My friends Dave and Shane both have Class A CDLs; Shane is OTR, and Dave is local, but both drive 18-wheelers. They have both seen the footage and sided with me on this one too.

Learned how to drive something a bit smaller than a big rig today!

My longtime mechanic Pete installed a hitch receiver on my truck back in October 2020; I have used it for a flagpole and a hitch hauler, but not to actually tow anything...

The pins on the wiring harness are a bit corroded, and I wanted to see if it still sent power to the trailer. My supervisor was okay with this, and it turns out that my wiring harness is fine, but the trailer's right taillight/turn signal is out; I have a new job next week!

Why the parking boot? Two trucks have had their catalytic converters stolen on our property this year...

The trailer only weighs like a thousand pounds, but it's as long as my truck!

If you want to pull a trailer, I’ll be more than happy to let you drag this around for me. I’ll even let you load it and unload it.

    Deal?

    I got a single axle.

I’m not worried about towing it.
    I’m worried about loading/unloading it.
Tree work is like doing square bales of hay.
You do it all 2x. But you don’t get paid for doing it 2x.

The stuff in the trailer is a mix. It’s what was scattered over the yard after a wind storm.
The big tree cut up on the ground is Yellow Poplar. It has been dying for years. The biggest issues were, no one want poplar, the main trunk has a nasty hollow in it. And the diameter is probably 34-36” wide at the narrowest section. I’m not a pro arborist. But I’ve been around it enough to know hollow dead trees are nothing to take lightly. You really need the right equipment to fall them, which I don’t have.

The worst part is the clean up. No one burns poplar. A the log isn’t good enough for cabinet makers.
We had one other that we took down a few years ago, it was in good shape. A cabinet builder came a got it.

Popular burns hot but too much ash. It was cheaper in stores where you could make something to try out skills. But its all bout the same price now.

Yeah it burns hot, but like you said it makes a lot of ash.
It splits easy so that’s a plus. Definitely going to have split this before I load it up and haul it off.
Some of those rounds are heavy. And I played stupid and learned my lesson on lifting heavy stuff.
I hurt my back once, and you don’t know what a hurt back feels like until you dread using the toilet.

For 2 weeks, I seriously watched what I ate just to avoid getting on and off the toilet. WTF.
I’m not doing that again. I can swallow my pride and ask for help.

It’s wet. Soaked. I’ve been cutting on it between the rains.
Like most things in life, when problems happen, they seem to happen at the most inconvenient time.
