Can’t ever go wrong with a washer, then a crush/lock washer, then the bolt. That’s typical the order for anything like that.

Got my strap in. Took a little wiggling around and tightening to get it rock solid, but damn is it rock solid.

I love this tire mount option. The photo with the Jeep is also awesome. I used to have a Jeep set up for rock crawling but had to sell it. It would be a blast to setup my taco to compete with my Jeep buddies.

is that really possible with my gen3?

It’s all relative. Depends on how built their Jeeps are and how deep you’re willing to go with your truck.

They were pretty hardcore crawling all locked and I was on 40” wheels. It’s probably not practical to get to excited about that option. I could go on tjeor “east” rides and still enjoy

I decided to change things up. I’m no longer using the bottle jack to hold the spare up. I am now instead keeping the spare flat & have secured the bottle jack in the upper corner. I’m doing this because it allows me to stack camping gear/totes on top of the spare as well as up on both bedside areas and the back. I don’t get to camp often but this setup is super clean laying flat & secure & it allows me to put a lot more stuff in the bed without removing the spare altogether.

@singletrack_ftw thanks for the inspiration. I have a love-hate relationship with my dual swingout bumper and I think this is the only real alternative to storing a spare 35" tire with a DCSB and low-height RTT rack. I'm sure as hell not putting it on the roof!

Latest iteration of the setup & I love it this way. 37” spare at the back of the bed, with bottle Jack strapped down next to it by the Y strap

    Looks good!
That looked like an SOS bumper… a lot like mine
    :hattip:

Good idea for a spare. I’m still trying to think about what I want to do with my spare.

Lots of pics on my build thread! It’s a custom ultra tucked fabbed bumper that Joe built for me. Gmg fab in Scottsdale az. He’s a great fabricator. It’s tucked higher & tighter than you can imagine. I love it

Is it mounted to something underneath keeping it at that angle? Or leaned up against the front of bed somehow
