Jeeeeeep update!

I got a whole side done yesterday. All by myself.f

I worked on it a little more today. Instead of starting on the other ball joints, I decided to put the new drag link, tie rod and track bar on. Ball joint can wait till the weekend.

Have any of the parts pulled off been bad? Fo' sho'. On the side I did, the lower ball joint was done. The drag link and tie rod weren't horrible, but getting to the point of bad. Surprisingly, the track bar bushings were shot. Like falling apart, shot. Glad I got it. I hadn't planned on it until the vendor had a sale and pulled the trigger because.

Lesson for the day: Be sure and tighten that steering stabilizer up when the steering is full lock in the opposite direction of the frame tab. That was 20 minutes of head-scratchin'.

 

Nice job! I know you are cussing the hell outta the heep, but diggin your patience with it. Gotta push through.

 

All I did today was make a damn mess of an oil change. Pix are in the NOVA thread.

The short and sweet…. Oil change and tire rotation on both the jeep and truck.

 

I have no choice. The ball joints have turned into an expensive fiasco. Ridiculously priced ball joints aside, I'm at $600 currently. $200 in tools and $400 in parts. Makes me wonder what labor would've been.......

 

Damn! I might have to pull out my ball joint set and just see if it’ll work, Cups that is.

 

I made mine work, but I ordered the correct cups. I'll see if they're better than what I had. My ball joint press is pretty pathetic at any rate.

Edit: the tools were the cup set and and hub press to separate the axle from the unit bearing. I could've used a hammer or something, but I've been wanting to get something for a while.

Hell, as far as I’m concerned… any work job around the house or vehicle requires a new tool purchase.

 

Quick update: had a procedure today to remove the blood clot in my arm and also confirm the diagnosis as to what caused it. They confirmed it's thoracic outlet syndrome, which means the vein gets pinched between my upper rib and clavicle when I raise my arm over my head, which ultimately caused the clot. So next step is surgery to remove the rib. But the outlook is full recovery and back to normal activities once I recover. That is all.

Yay Dave!!! All I did was put in my order request for the correct misalignment spacers through the Elka service dealer in Ohio...never got the link to make the purchase, so I'm following up this morning

 

So glad they are addressing the root cause and removed the current clot!!

 

Guess they don't like money.

They were pulling the spacers and 2 additional bearings before invoicing me, so they value making sure they don't have to refund any of those monies!!
