They conveniently have smaller sidewalls so potholes are more entertaining. :p

I've never really been a fan of black rims, until I bought a black truck with them on it. They're growing on me

Someone ask me to make them a pulley for 4 belts for his lathe. He doesn’t have it is why he can’t make it.

He gave me a few dimensions and that was it.

My first attempt didn’t look right so I drew it up on autocad and redid it.

Now to put a 1/4” key way in it and drill and tap a couple set screw holes.

Debt free in 4 more years puts me at 59 yrs old and keeping that thought of work is work helps me too.
Thing is I wouldn't have enough saved to retire comfortably but at that point I'd be able just to work a couple of jobs a year and get by until SS.
I used to be so thankful for this job, but didn't see myself being in the same shop with machinist responsibilities forever.
The new kid is very sharp and good to work with. He took initiative and got a couple of jobs knocked out last week. That impressed me.

My first dumb question of the day.

I don't know what the job is but we've had 3 guys come out to look at a welding job we need done on campus and all 3 have said they can't do it. What makes welding stainless steel special?

Were they all certified? Stainless, depending on the grade and application can be tricky.

Don't listen to me, I am not certified and can't do it either

Wild. Reminds me of a bar in Lowell MA, The Worthen, in an Industrial Revolution relic of a building. Had the original network of ceiling fans all run off one motor and a series of belts and pullies. The hum and belt slapping was so unique. Pics can be found via the Googles:

Maybe start doing a shit job, so they don't want you in your position anymore? Seems like you worked yourself into being irreplaceable...
