    Oh look, another mod....

Call me skeptical, but if it's thinner and lighter that means less material is used and thus, less stronger than the OEM. It would be susceptible to breaking down faster (stress from high heat comes to mind) or crack/warp faster.

It sound like a very unnecessary risk to take, just to save a few pounds?

Swapping to a lighter crank pulley on my tC (2AR motor) made a pretty drastic difference in mid-range torque and smoothed out the idle and acceleration. A very worthwhile upgrade on that platform.

That said the 3.5 is a completely different motor, can't say for sure how it would work on the truck or if it would have any ill-effects. With an intake and tune mine is nice and smooth - I don't find myself requiring a lot of additional power on this - but I do appreciate upgrades that make the truck feel like it's working together better. I've looked into these a bit for the 2GR, but I always find better stuff to spend the coin on.

Lol the factory crank pulley/damper is actually much more likely to 'break down' due to it being a multi-piece design. These are cnc'd out of aluminum chunk - breaking is not in their M.O.

The factory pieces are normally heavier to help reduce cost and NVH, but like other factory components designed for the masses - there is a small performance hinderance due to the NVH reduction. Racecars use aluminum pulleys when they can but they can cause additional vibrations and noise in certain applications.

I've never seen an aftermarket crank pulley fail on a street driven car.

The stock pulleys are heavy, but I doubt you would notice the gains. Unless you are building a race engine where you are replacing everything that those little gains add up, it is little more than a cool looking set.

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.
    Interested in this idea.

See if the pulleys are a different ratio. It’s not uncommon to change pulley sets to slow the accessories and reduce their draw, however, this can create its own set of problems like belt tension, charging, or heating at idle.
Weight itself won’t make much difference, what’s really robbing power are parasitic losses from the drag the accessories create. A heavier or better dampened crank pulls might smooth out the power pulses some, but I don’t think there is any real power to be had outside of slowing the accessories.
How an engine delivers power can be (as part of the design) be tuned by flywheel weight. As a broad generalization, engines which go up and down the powerband a lot (road racing) will use a light flywheel whereas ones that spend most of their time in a narrow range (drag racing) will run a heavier one.

I don’t think the mass is significant enough, especially given the other objects on the crank plane also moving in circular motion, to make much difference.
Just one guy’s 2 cents though.

The computer is more of a limiting problem than a couple oz's off a pulley
