First of all, is the truck quoted in the above post a true PRO? I didn't think that the PRO came in red...?

Usually, Thompson Toyota is guilty of adding thousands of dollars in mods to SRs; On tuesday, I went there to order a new radiator cap and they an SR5 (red one) and a TRD Sport (green one) parked out front; The gray one is a used one they had on the lot.

As usual, they are greatly overpriced, but these some are some of the more nicely done examples I've seen at Thompson; I wish they'd do an access cab or a DCLB!

So red was in fact available in 2017? This is seriously the first red PRO that I've ever seen; They're usually black, gray, white.

There’s always 3 colors. Usually white and or black, sometimes another color already available (like br in this case) and another pro specific color that trickles down the following year.

About the only thing on that supplement that's even close to being priced correctly is the tint. My tint guy charged me around $230 for a ceramic tint all around except the front windshield. When I got my TRD Sema wheels and black OEM lug nuts I paid $771 including shipping. Mounting with new valves with TPMS sensors, balancing, etc. was just under $200, so let's round up and call it $1k total. Figure another $1k +/- if I had gone for new tires (I kept the OEM tires, only had 5k miles on them). So that add-on is about $1k overpriced. TRD lift kit would run $1,350 at SparksParts with shipping, plus 5 hours labor at my dealer would be another $700, so the "bend over" factor on that one is about $1,400. So on top of whatever market adjustment they added, they're getting an additional $2,400 in overpriced add-ons. I can't wait till the market calms down so Toyota dealers are left with this overpriced shit on their lots and their floor planning costs go through the roof.

 

Got turned off by Thompson. Compared to the other dealers I was in contact with, Thompson seemed like they couldn't be bothered with me.

 

I never bought a vehicle from them, but they are the closest dealer to my house and this the dealer that did a lot of work on my truck when it was still under warranty, so I entrusted them to replace my frame last November.

 

That is exactly what I did to my truck and why I bought an SR5. Just like you said, got to pick exactly what I wanted.

I totally forgot about that Red for 2017 because Cement was the only one you ever see, in fact the only Red one l can recall was on a TFL video from Hawaii.
