I am kinda hoping they will skip the goofy Tundra fender flares that don’t actually go to the bottom of the fenders. Pointless design.

    This triggers me:

I think they should do a hybrid version or plug in before they do an electric version. Toyota already expressed how they really don’t want to move towards EV but the government is forcing their hand. I think once there’s a new administration in office, all this EV crap will subside.

Horrific looking honestly, cars/trucks are looking worse and worse as the years go on - amazing how backwards the industry is going as far as sleek looking designs. Everything seems to try and look “futuristic”…

Agreed, EV’s are gimmicks. Imagine a natural disaster (with no electricity around) and trying to get out of that mess. Overpay for a battery car/truck at your own risk/future expense.

Gas stations require electricity to run as well. In this scenario you're pretty hooped no matter what your engine is powered by. You can siphon or and pump gas of course... So you'll be marginally better off but not everyone will have those resources.

EVs are likely a stop-gap technology but I wouldn't call them a gimmick.

Will age perfectly fine, they have their uses but they’re not an ICE replacement

PHEVs with a decent (say, 50 mile) range are the best of both worlds. Cheap electric running costs + gasoline for longer hauls or towing.

And ... in a natural disaster you can't count on fuel stations either, tbh. Witness say, hurricane sandy and the fuel lines for miles. Some pocket solar (a couple kW of not-grid-tied stuff) is pretty ideal though.

Hybrids are great, no denying that. During Sandy every station with diesel had zero lines for the diesel pump. I was able to get diesel anytime i wanted. Good to have both gas + diesel

Yeah same thing here - had the old TDI back then and I got so much stinkeye cruising up to the diesel island... :p

That said, FEMA was trucking us fuel directly and filled up POVs too... but I couldn't tap any of that heh.

Anyway, 100W solar panels are about 100 bucks a pop these days, you can string up a kw pretty easily and do an offgrid setup that'll get the average rig 20 miles or so a day in an emergency. Don't have to worry about if the roads are working, etc. I also like the way the Lightning is able to export power back to the house - short power outage? Your AC and freezer and whatnot keeps running.

Yeah we literally already know what it looks like. The gassers will look like that but they’ll have regular grilles and not be futuristic robot white.

I like it, good evolution on the third gen without going too overboard like the Tundra.

    Those renderings are pretty hideous.

Yeah they took the third gen design and perfected it instead of following the Tundra’s language thank god.
