    Reserving judgement... but interesting development

    FB_IMG_1657602148362.jpg

Apperantly Trail Gear/All Pro is seeing all the drastic leadtimes with Fox, King etc... they are introducing a line of Coilovers and shocks. 1st Gen Tacoma WILL be part of their line up.

Hm interesting. Is it in house produced or are they just out sourcing to king/ads?

Going from what little info I've seen so far, it looks like they are saying these will be in house. These were "unveiled" at Overland Expo PNW this past weekend. I wasn't there, all I saw was some Facebook and Instagram shots of them, and their captions.

Suppsedly they will be available before year end.

I highly doubt they are going to out source to King... King is leadtimes are horrible right about now. ADS wouldn't have the manufacturing capability to keep up with this type of demand, and that would cause their name line to suffer.

Fox, is actually positioning it's self to come back out of their delays well, here pretty soon. Their delays were not the typical "Covid" excuse... they moved all of their shock manufacturing from CA to GA. Their facility is a lot larger and more capible in GA. They just had to get it up and running, as well as fully operational (labor). Unfortunately for them, they found themselves needing to complete assembly of their facility and hire a BUNCH of people, right at the same time everything was shut down.

New here trying to catch up with just over 240,000 on my Lil’ Champ. Just had the front bumper straightened and replaced after, oh…7 incidents (I can recall) since getting it in 2004. Also replaced the rear bumper.

Today going to throw on seat covers. Anyone have experience with replacing the whole seat and/or carpeting? Torn between selling and keeping. Being here makes when want to drive to Mars and back. Tons of us have done seat swaps, replaced the carpet or gone to vinyl even. Rock auto has both carpet and vinyl. If you are seat swapping, most cut the feet off their seat rails and weld the new seats rails to their seat oem feet.

Has anyone rebuilt an OEM e-locker without using the Toyota grease?

Reason I ask. I need to get this thing going for a run this weekend. Not sure I can even get the Toyota grease in time, and 40 bucks for like 2 ounces of grease is just dumb. Any over the counter recommendations?

    @El Taco Diablo

I used dielectric grease for the face of the contacts on the gear and bel ray waterproof grease for the gears themselves. Also silicone grease on the o ring on the shaft.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...01-build-thread.290011/page-104#post-26375560

I do however have the actuator stick on me once in a while which requires me to tap it and jack the truck up so it's easier to lock up and lock it up that way. Once it locks/unlocks again it does it without fail. That being said, I have been bad about exercising the locker since it's rebuild. But when I was using it heavy it worked great.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    Thank you.

    Here's where I'm at.

I drained the oil first, thinking if I broke the fork, I'd see evidence in the oil. There was no evidence. = Good

Took the e-lock actuator off and moved the plunger over with a screwdriver. It locks the wheels. = Good (no mechanical failure)

Had my wife hit the button on and off while I was holding the actuator. I feel a pulse inside like it wants to turn the gear but the gear (on the outside) doesn't turn = I think I found my problem.

Seems as though I just need to give everything a good cleaning inside and re-grease.

Yup that sounds exactly like the issue. Since you are in Cali I doubt rust is as much of an issue for you but you never know. My thought would be take apart the gear part, leave the motor alone and closed up. Bench test the motor itself with the gear out and you should be able to see the worm gear spin.

*EDIT* Here you can see me bench test it like that, should let you see what pin to use or half of what pins to use lol

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/140166547@N02/51557208047/

If the worm gear spins with no issues you can just clean the spring and big gear and close it back up. I dug up a bunch of write ups that told me how to bench test that, measure resistance at the pins, etc but I would need to dig all that shit up again. I really need to archive some of the shit I do like @turbodb does.

This kit would prob be more helpful to you too, but won't get to you by this weekend.

    https://landtankproducts.com/products/e-locker-actuator-kit/

Worse comes to worse you can manually lock it at the trailhead and unlock it when it's time to go home.

    Awesome, ordered that kit.

I'll clean everything up now, and just try to get working. I'll use that kit and give it some love when I have a bit more time.

I keep wondering when things are going to boil over with society. The last thing to collapse is the surface. Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.
