    Hey All,

I'm hoping to put some curtains on the inside of my snugtop. I'd love to just put a couple screws in to hold a length of bungee that the curtain would hang on. Does anyone have any experience screwing into a fiberglass top? Anyone know how thick they are? Will screwing a self tap screw into fiberglass cause any significant damage? Is there a chance it'll crack?

I'm hoping to just put a very short screw in that won't go all the way through but will go in far enough to hold the weight of a curtain.

    Anyone done this?

    thanks!!!!

The shell is super thin. Might want to think about some 3m products that are peel and stick or get that stuff called "alien tape".

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I wouldn't attempt to screw into the fiberglass.
If the interior is exposed fiberglass, I'd try roughing up the surface and using something like this:
    https://www.mcmaster.com/adhesive-mount-studs/ with a heavy-duty epoxy.
If the interior is carpet, I'd try using the hook side of hook'n'loop (velcro) sewn onto the top edge (and maybe bottom also) of your curtain.

Do not tap screws into your top. I use 3m products but I put a little dab of gorilla glue to Make sure they stay put. I used that set up on my old truck top for 10 years and never had one fall.

@CT Yankee said it. If you have the raw fiberglass interior (no carpeting/headliner inside your shell) then you should sand (to rough the surface slightly) and epoxy (or even glue) in the attach points.

Hanging window covering is NOT a reason to penetrate the fiberglass shell. I have plenty of experience working with fiberglass boats and trailers and "screwing" into fiberglass is rarely a thing. Perhaps pre-drilling a pilot hole, drilling a final size hole then using a bolt, washer and nut with appropriate sealant or rubber gasket washer (if waterproofing is required) BUT that isn't appropriate for your drapes.

Another option: if you have the carpeted headliner, you can use velcro/hook and loop stuff to stick things to that headliner. I got some doublesided hook and loop tape and glued it onto some items for use when sleeping in the bed, like a small lantern, small plastic box to hold crap, even my fishing rods. You could sew on or just use fabric glue to put some of that on curtains. No need for a curtain rod.

I once in 1983 made privacy curtains for my Stockland shell on my 1983 Toyota PU that snapped in place.
Took cloth with male shap on it and used epoxy to fix it in place. After 7 years they still worked.
If you have the carpet lined SnugTop as I do Velcro can be an easy quick solution.
