The good news is that this was the complete opposite of a confrontation. The bad news is that I still feel bad that I couldn't do more; I took Porter to the dog park on Constitution Avenue in Perkasie before continuing to the cruise night at Dairy Queen in Quakertown this past Sunday. Perkasie was having its community day, and it was packed, which forced me to park at the shopping center across the street; I was walking back to my truck when I encountered an old lady with a Schnauzer. The dog dropped a deuce on the grass, and not only did this woman not seem to realize it until after it happened, but she didn't have any poop bags. Unfortunately, neither did I...

Anyway, this woman seemed kind of confused. She proceeded to tell me that she couldn't remember where she parked her car. This has happened to me with the Tacoma a couple times, but when I asked her what kind of car she had, she couldn't remember...

I asked her if she had a key fob to make the horn beep, and she said her husband had it or something. I asked her what kind of car she had, and she couldn't remember; I then asked her if it was an American or foreign car. She told me foreign, and I started shooting off names of foreign manufacturers. When I said "Hyundai", she said that's what it was, and we were able to further narrow it down to a blue Elantra. It was at that moment that I noticed what else but a blue Elantra parked directly behind my truck; I pointed the car out to her and she at first didn't seem to notice it, but when she did she said it wasn't hers.

If I had to guess, I'd say she was at least in her late 70s (maybe 75 at the youngest; I have no way of knowing if it was just a brain fart or legit dementia, but this woman seemed confused enough that in my mind I questioned whether or not she should be driving. She continued wandering around looking for her car, and I called my mom for advice on how to proceed, since I'd never encountered a confused senior citizen who wasn't a blood relative; My own maternal grandmother went into a significant cognitive decline in the last year of life, but she always recognized me even if she couldn't remember my name, and my interactions with her never went beyond pushing around the nursing home grounds in a wheelchair. A random encounter was a different story...

Keep in mind that this was in a very nice part of Perkasie, during community day. There were people everywhere, including numerous cops; I was not worried about her getting hurt or taken advantage of, but it was kind of hot out and I thinking that maybe I should notify one of the nearby cops. Unfortunately, she wandered off while I was talking to my mom on the phone and I couldn't find her. Based on the fact that she in a heavily populated area with plenty of police around, my mom and I agreed that it was probably okay to just leave.

As mentioned above, I took Porter with me to the cruise night at Dairy Queen in Quakertown after spending like an hour at the dog park. Three separate people, all over the age of the sixty, asked me if I had water and made unsolicited comments about how it was too hot for the dog...

    :annoyed:

    MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS!

I guarantee you a big part of is because these guys were all baby boomers and saw me as a dumb millennial. I've lost count of the number of times perfect strangers have decided to become PETA activists and involve themselves in business that isn't theirs. The most noteworthy encounter didn't even involve my dog; It was probably 2017, and I was still working at Puck. It was busy, and my boss would have me go to her house (which was within walking distance) to walk her dog Tully. On this particular day, it was in the 90s; I probably drove instead of walking so I wouldn't get all sweaty.

So, I picked up Tully and walked her to Burpee Park, which was literally right around the corner from my boss's house; I was crossing the street when a middle-aged Karen in a Subaru Forester slammed on the brakes in the middle of the intersection and started screaming at me about how it was too hot for the dog. Before I could respond, she took off again, probably because she realized that saying what she said would get a rock thrown through her car window if she said it to the wrong person; I was thinking"Am I supposed to let her shit in the house just because it's 95 degrees? Fuck you!" but I didn't actually get to say anything because she drove off as quickly as she had shown up.

Some people say I have an anger problem, but I think I really have a problem with people who can't mind their own business; I didn't respond in a hostile manner to any of the people at the car show, but in June 2020 I almost punched a guy at Mission BBQ because he decided it was a good idea to get in my face and lecture me about how to wear a mask properly. If the restaurant manager hadn't seen what was going on and intervened, I probably would have decked the guy!

I am probably not going to bring Porter to certain car shows again just because of these encounters on Sunday, because I only have so much patience, and if enough people decided to lecture me about proper dog care (or mask wearing, etc) I will go off on somebody!

In another Tully-related incident, that is an incident that occurred while I was walking my boss's dog Tully, I finally got my revenge on an unpleasant neighbor of my boss's who lived one street over. She had this annoying little dog who would seemingly hide until you were right at her fence line, and then start barking and growling. This startled me on numerous occasions, and when I called the woman out on it, she made it seem as though I was the asshole and said that her dog could do whatever she wanted in her own yard.

One time I was in the Tacoma and I stopped at the stop sign in front of this woman's house; I forget whether the dog was out there, but she was sitting on the front porch reading a book. She did not know I was there; I selected Meat Loaf's "Bat Out of Hell" on my iPod, made sure the subwoofer bass was all the way up to 11, and hit play...

    :headbang:

I only saw her out of the corner of my eye because I wanted to drive away before she could confront me, but I'm pretty sure I saw her jump. How does it feel?!?!

They were just concerned about your dog. I would just say next time "yes I have plenty of water...do you need some?" Then ignore them. We have plenty of dogs die every year due to heatstroke. Hell, parents even leave babies in cars that die every year....but I can guarantee you they didn't forget the phone in the car.

I would have told don’t worry about my dog. I have plenty of water. I am just looking for a pot hole to pour the water it into. Because my dog would rather play and drink a rain water puddle than it’s dog dish.

Actually it’s not my dog, it’s my moms.
But you can’t keep that dog out of the water. I just dog sit for her every once in a while.

I see where they're coming from. It just gets very grating after a while, especially three times at the same show...

Here is the passenger side light/turn signal that does not work; I was thinking that all I had to do was replace a bulb, but the thing is sealed, and gaining access to the bulb would require destroying the entire assembly. So, off to AutoZone I went with the trust corporate credit card in my possession...

The older one gets the less attractive repairing things a second time becomes.

Water gets in the the butt connector and corrodes the wire -- the light quits working either far from home or just before you want to leave. You will do a better repair if you seal the connector with some RTV -- after you have tested your work.

I would save those for temporary/emergency use.
