How do you know your windshield is compromised? Did you test it? Why not just stick it back up there and continue with your day? Use double sided tape.

or go somewhere else and tell them it fell off. Plenty of things you can do

It took a chunk of the windshield glass out with it.

does that mean its compromised? Will it implode? Glass that is years old has many tiny places where rocks or debris has hit, and not considered "compromised"..

if it doesnt impact your field of vision, then just roll with it. Stick the mirror back on and go.

I believe once it has 4 small chips out of it, it is considered compromised, regardless of field of view, and with one large (no size specified) chip/ crack. At least that's what my policy says.

What insurance you have? Mine doesnt say anything about how many chips before you should replace.

That sounds like a load to me... Example: When my truck was 15k miles old it developed a leaky rear axle seal. I took it in for service and I knew that they were just gonna give it a quick one-over and rotate the tires. I could have not taken it in and do the tires myself, but I did, and they caught the leak.
Well, what if I had burned up a wheel bearing and they said 'Sorry, but we buy our bearings from Toyo bearings and seals, so we're not covering it'?
They'd have been with a real fight on their hands. How many other parts on these trucks are not made by Toyota? And none of them are covered if they break? I'd of said 'Look when I bought the truck, the warranty is for 'The Truck' ... I never saw anything in the fine print about 'Except parts outsourced by Toyota'..
All that aside, you're not alone. In January I got in my truck one morning and there was a small crack on the bottom of the windshield. For no reason. It just showed up over night. And a month ago the rear glass on my Snugtop shell just shattered backing out of the driveway. Just broke for no reason at all. I think auto glass these days are piles of crap.
I ended up having the windshield replaced at an auto glass place I've been going to for 25 years. $450.00 + tax. The glass part isn't all that bad... The expensive part was re-aligning the camera.

The truth is that glass is very heavy, and auto manufactures are making the windows thinner, and thinner to save weight/mpgs. Of course the thinner the glass the more likely it is to break for no reason at all.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing from others too. Truth is, if I had to sacrifice say .3 mpg and have a nice thick windshield that I may never have to replace? Guess which one I'd take. LOL!

x2 on the advice to take this to another dealer.

They can’t warranty a part because it wasn’t made by Toyota? So then I guess the suspension components made by Bilstein aren’t covered. This is totally absurd. It’s called a bumper to bumper warranty and yes there are exceptions but not because some component wasn’t made by Toyota. Unless your bumper to bumper is expired. But that’s a different story.

The deal about your sun visor causing this is even more absurd.
