Since we all love performing schedule and preventive maintenance chores...figured those of us running performance suspensions might find this bit of info/feedback useful when you go to purchase your replacement spherical bearings.

    From Dan at www.adventuretaco.com -
The stainless steel versions have been working out great. I've got another rig review coming up where I'll give a bit of an update, but the TL;DR for you now is that I just swapped out my first set of SS spherical bearings (FKSSX10T-F1) after 42K miles. That was after getting only ~7K out of several sets of COM10T.

For the front uppers and both upper/lower rear, the hardened steel versions (FKS10T-F1) seem just fine, since they are subjected to less grit. Whatever you do, don't get any COM10T, and don't get anything that isn't the -F1 fit.

Also - for the misalignment spacers - one thing to be aware of - at least for my ADS shocks - is that the misalignments are in three places
    *the lower front shocks
*The upper rear (I think this is typo and is front shocks) shocks
    *and the lower rear shocks

...but the misalignments at the top cap of the coilover are different (they are not as "long") in order to fit into the top hat. Just something to be aware of when you're picking up replacements.

So that said, I think if these hardened versions (stainless in front lower coilover; and regular hardened on coilover top and rear lower...but I'll assess how my rear ones look when I get there) more than justify the extra ~ $12-14 per SS bearing...again basing this off Dan's experience with his ADS' getting 7 to 10k miles on the COM10T F1 bearings, but going to the SS version netted him at least 4x the miles/wear and tear...plus he's no mall crawler like me:anonymous:!

Given how some our Taco's are DD and all you fun NOVA / DMV folks commutes aren't typically short time/distance commutes (I'm right there with yall), the upgraded bearings could realistically provide a years worth or more of commutes and trail adventures without the fun clunk and squeaks that result from these bearings going out...let alone ending up like the poor guy who had to have the lower eye replaced!

Hopefully that was extra long and duplicative rambling, though I doubt it comes close to @Hafaday level...but one can always try:rofl:

EDIT: Yeah and of course I have all COM10T F1 bearings sitting up at the in-laws garage!!

I'm typically always down for a conversation!

They've been called "Greg stories" since I was in middle school...so yeah it's part and parcel of who I am, the internet definitely hasn't help!

Plus these none of this spherical bearings jibber-jabber will even come close to those ball joints of yours everyone's been talking about of late!

Ok….. Dad (me) has a dumb ass moment. Kiddo comes over and wants to go down to the outlet mall in Williamsburg. No problem there. Then we get into a discussion on her birthday. After a brief discussion and some laughing, ITS TODAY!!

    Happy 25 to my oldest.
