I say be honest, mention it to them. They'll respect your honesty, and who knows, maybe you'll get some kind of reward in the future? :D But atleast you'll get the good Karma for doing the right thing.

    hahaha.

I've been in this situation before and it was before my current job. I weighed the pro's and con's. way more con's than pro's. I'm pretty honest to begin with so I probably would have told my boss anyway, but when I did tell him I got to keep the extra money for being honest :) Do the right thing

I'm not sure if they'd let me keep it or not , i've actually never met anyone , they all reside on the west coast... it's quite a bit of money, I'm actually pretty sure everyone would question themselves about it i have a few more hours to ponder before anyone at my company comes to work anyways

You know the company is going to find their mistake eventuality. Don't withdraw the money, don't transfer it to savings and DON'T SPEND IT. Tell payroll about the mistake and even if they say "no, every thing looks okay here" they will discovery their mistake soon enough. If you spend the money the best that will happen is they take it out of your future pay all at once. The worst that could happen is you get fired and get to do the perp walk and get to make restitution while on probation.

i dont know about where you live, but in fl when you have payroll direct deposit, they can take money out of your account the same way they put it in(with no notice to you). they will catch on and one day your account may read zero........all the while you are using your debit card and/or writing checks, racking up those nsf fees.

DITO on this. This has happened to our company here in NorCal as well with the direct deposit. They had made a mistake and doubled our paychecks. It was like, WHOA where did I get this cash from, them next day it was gone. So they told us after they had already taken it out. So best to give it back or let someone know about it.

x2 Also has similar dealings with this. Honesty always pays off. Even if it isn't in US currency, you'll feel much better about it. ;)

x2 You have to tell them. Unbelievable how many people would keep something that doesn't belong to them. Just about a week ago, a guy on here was complaining cause he lost his wallet and nobody returned it. Most people were agreeing. This is basically the same thing except it is a company instead of a single individual.

i am an owner of a company myself and have had it happen with one of my workers. he had come to me with the mistake himself and i have a new respect for him now. this happened twice with his check. we have a payroll company do our payroll and didnt catch it but he did and came to us with the mess up. that says alot about him as a person and his respect toward his job and our copany. do what u want but this put a huge feather in my guys hat in my book. i wont forget that. m2cents

Someone is going to lose their job If you don't return it!
They will do their books and eventually find where it went and just not pay you twice.
It'll end up hurting you more.
