Finally got mine about a month ago, after waiting almost 9 months

It packs in to a bag that's about a foot square by 4" deep, so it's not too bad.

Took me 9 months to get mine.... but I wanted to use insurance. It was the second place I went to that had the shorter waiting list. Mine has the SD card. Now to remember to take it with me to the doc's office.

 for a speedy recovery for your wife and hope you had no lasting damage done in your fall. Hope the doggo kept you good company while on the floor.

Hi Carl, IF I could go back and just do part of my old job, and didn't have to deal with certain people, I'd go back mainly to see people :anonymous: I'm liking the no stress!!! If I "survive" tomorrow night, this will be the longest in 21 months with no ER visit!!!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Should be a good day - someone took the old frig off the sidewalk first thing. There's plenty of DIY junk collectors here, so gone in 12 hours is fine. Heat is really slowing down putzing - didn't get to the table yet (Today!), and even getting in the pool at 91* water isn't as wonderful as mid-80's. There were some 90's in our forecast, but then they decided ....nah...
    Have a great one everyone.

Getting a little rain here today and we badly need it. That means I'm driving the taco! Fueled it up last weekend after 5 weeks, only put 27 bucks in it. I'll keep riding the ebike to work when its not raining.

Early voting in Maryland ends today. My shift finished yesterday. Primary election in next Tuesday. 5 days to get ready for the Primary.

Today is about relaxing. Going to take 10 pond fish over to a friend for her pond. I also need to get my Judges manual ready for Tuesday.

I learned something interesting today that may be of value to some of us in this group. As you all are painfully aware due all my carping and whinging, I've been trying to decide whether to take Social Security now or wait until 70. The simple math is that every year you wait increases your monthly payment by 8%; that's not a bad return on investment, and it was enough for me to delay starting SS. However now there is a new item in play, namely that the 2023 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) is reportedly going to be 10.9%. That's more than 8%. So my question was, should I start a little early and take advantage of that 10.9%? In other words, am I leaving money on the table if I don't start before 2023? I looked and looked and asked and searched and just never found a decent answer.

As usual, it turns out I was asking the wrong question! My question should have been, "If I defer taking SS, does the amount I eventually get include COLA adjustments?" The answer is YES it does. COLA adjustments are factored into the SS amount every year after a person turns 62. That's a pretty big deal because it means that deferring the date you start taking SS causes your eventual payment to go up by 8% PLUS the COLA percentage each year. For me at least that is a handy piece of information. Hopefully someone else finds it useful too.

It goes up by the COLA regardless of if you take SS now or later. So the difference is 10.9% (IF that is what it will really be) of the 8% you get by delaying.

I retired at 52 and bought a ranch. Then I took SS at 62... and I bank over ten percent of it every month. But then I never retired with debt or a need for things I don't really need.
