you would think in Charleston that a motor generator shop would be on every corner with the shipyards that used to be here and all the manufacturing that goes on here, but I couldn't find one that that had a legitimate "shop" that I could go to. they were all "we come to you and fix your big stuff" shops. the one I found that was promising had a disconnected phone line and no reviews for 3 years.

Try a plumbing/heating/air conditioning supply house, you will see plumber & HVAC vans out front.

ill look around tomorrow and see what I can find. I wish RadioShack was still a thing. I feel like they'd have something applicable.

I hear you on Radio Shack, but they would have to order a capicitor that size.

If you have Grainger nearby, they will have that capicitor.

Not a Radio Shack item, they were more geared toward consumers. I probably knew that catalog page by page back in the day, never saved up enough money to buy a stereo though.

they would at least be a good place for me to start! I hate that they went south. I never got to take full advantage of them.

Should only be around $15 even at Grainger prices, seriously these are the 9/16" wrench of the electric motor world -- really common.

If you have an old Yellow Pages book around look under Plumbing & Heating Supply, sometimes the internet falls down on local stuff.

$30 was the cheapest I was able to find. from the Goulds catalog it was around $50ish? for the identical component, not an analogous one that probably would have done the same thing anyways. im not experienced enough in capacitors to do anything but switch out one component for an identical one.

Pull the old one out and take it to your nearest heating and plumbing supply shop . They will easily match it up. If they don't have it, they can call Grainger to see if they have it.

You will not be taken advantage of. They know the next time you need a plumbing or heating service, they will be the 1st one you call .

Typically if you hear a hum and the motor won’t spin, it means the cap is bad. It’s not getting that kick in the ass from the cap to start spinning so it just sits and hums like it’s trying to start but it can’t.

Missed the mother load by a little bit. A guy with his 6x10 trailer was loading up when I drove by.

I had to cut the grass yesterday so I decided to run the beater/hooptie craftsman LT2000. I needed to add gas into the tank so that the gravity feed would work good enough to avoid stalling while on the side hill. I didn't have much more then a 1/2 gallon in the jug, so I dumped that in along with a liter bottle of some old stale gas from the snow blower and a can of stale 50:1 weed whacker premix gas. It didn't smoke or studder once, in fact I would say that it ran a bit better. Maybe a bit of 2 stroke pre-mix is the answer, lol. I did get the tractor stuck/in a bad place on the hill off in a deep corner of the lot that I've never cut since I lived here because I thought that it was the neighbors property. After recently looking at a Plat map I went digging around and found the property marker. Yup, the over grown jungle was actually my mess to deal with! I set the deck on the highest setting and put it into 1st gear and just let it creep through the mess. At one point the left front just sorta dipped down pretty badly ( like it found a bottomless pit) so I tried backing up but that just got me sorta sideways on a really steep bank. I rocked it back and forth a few times, then I cranked the wheel all the way towards the uphill and got off and pushed it until it got moving again, then I hopped back on. I knew that bypassing the stupid seat switch would come in handy one day!

All my old 2 cycle oil/gas gets sent thru the mower. I've never noticed any smoking or starting issues .

I do need to be careful of the old boat motor fuel. It sits a while and draws moisture. It's no big deal since the water sits at the bottom.

Pour it slowly into the mower until you see the change in color. The light colored liquid is water. Dont pour that in your mower tank.

The tractor is a International Cub, 1963 or newer, more interesting is what looks to be a 1958-59 ElCamino way back there by the sheds.
