Hi, my name is Aaron I own a 2009 tacoma. I long traveled the front end of the truck a couple of years back with a +2" long travel kit. Shortly after the I started to have problems with the traction control system that come stock on the truck. I took it back to the shop and they said that it was the long travel kit that was causing it to malfunction. They simply disconnect the system. So my question is now that it has been unhooked can I remove the sensor that connects to each wheels and the wire? Or will this cause other thing not to work? I heard that if I removed the sensor that my speedometer will not work? Not sure if that is true? Does anyone know more about this system? Please and thank you.

If your truck is an automatic, the speedometer won’t work. It uses the wheel speed sensors to calculate MPH.

Thanks, it is an automatic. Is there anyway around it?

What problems are you having with the tcs? Can you elaborate on why the shop said it wouldn't work? What long travel kit do you have?

So I have a all pro long travel kit it's a + two per side. So after I had it installed the traction control would lock up the breaks on one side or the other at random time as if I was losing traction but I would be diving in a straight line and on mostly flat and even pavement. It also would beep a couple of time when it was doing it. I took it to Toyota and they are the ones who had told me that the traction control was not working properly do to the long travel kit moving the sensor out of line. They are the one who suggested I just unhook it. But they would not do it. They said I had to take it to an out side shop because of liability. So I took it to a shop they unplugged it. I also added a full locking rear-end and I don't think it will work with the traction control. I'm not totally sure on that I just assumed.

I second this, give it a try, seriously. It took me a couple of times to get it after installing my small lift.

If the vsc recalibration doesn’t do the trick, you can also turn the traction control off completely by holding down the trac off/auto lsd button for five seconds while stopped. The trac off light will turn on on your dash when it’s all the way off

VSC is force enabled above 30 mph even if it is turned off manually, I agree with trying a re-calibration before attempting to permanently disable it.
The VSC system sometimes doesn't work well with lifted trucks because changing the way the suspension behaves tends to confuse the system however re-calibration can sometimes solve it.

i've had issues with my ABS kicking on when going around a 25-35 mph ~90 deg corner with a little bit of speed ever since i lifted my truck with 6112's 3rd notch and general spring HD's, lifted ~1.5" all around

doesnt do it on higher speed sweeping corners, just the ones i described above

tried the recalibration a few times over time, didnt do anything. Whats the wheel speed sensor wire extension supposed to do?

The extension won’t help the issue. But OP has a long travel truck.
And it will help save him from tearing the sensors wires out.
    Unless he’s using limit straps?
