Good to know a different perspective. Fundamentlly, it would make sense that an 87mm pulley would provide "more power", especially at higher elevation. That said, it's probably something similar to throttle response, some want more, some want less.

That said, it doesn't seem like based on your opinion, that an 87mm pulley is a need but more of a want.

I’d say the 87mm pulley is a NEED for HEAVY trucks at ELEVATION.

I could see a stock truck being happy with the 90mm pulley in Colorado.

Can you elaborate more on your anecdotal experience using the 90mm vs 87mm pulley? I ask because the recent dyno for the 87mm pulley didn’t show much improvement over the 90mm pulley. Matter fact, it was slightly lower numbers. That test was done, I believe at sea level but it’s still apples to apples when compared to the 90mm pulley dyno data.

what is your definition of "heavy?" I am pretty much stock weigh with mods to gearing and suspension - yes, certainly not heavy. Added the SC for pulling a camper with a truck bed loaded with camping gear, probably 3K total in additional load. The 90mm with the Stryker Tune provides plenty of power for towing and daily use even when towing at all elevations (6000ft to +12000 ft) and elevations where the 87mm appears to present a "lean" issue without modifications to fueling systems. I'll stay stock - you stay HEAVY. We both get to appreciate the work of @mZiggy and Marc's work results of the YotaWerx Stryker Tunes. :militarypress::militarypress:

Can anyone with the new YW tune tell me if it reduces the bog/surge at lower rpm in second gear when you get on the throttle? It drives me nuts. FWIW, it was also present in the factory tune before I installed the SC, and I'm running the stock Magnuson tune which has made it worse.

I hesitate to address your question directly, as these trucks do some funky things (expecially the AT trucks, like mine), so I cannot be certain of what you are asking.

The yotawerx tune is a pleasure to drive. The Dyno run comparing the YW tune to the stock Maggy tune, is dramatic in that the stock tune builds power sharply at low RPM, then sags off dramatically in the mid rpms (Curve dips), then steeply cranks up the power again at higher RPM. The YW tune leaps sharply at lower RPMs and maintains power all through the RPM range, with a little variation and increase along the way, but is pretty flat. The curves can be found in the Yotawerx tuning serviced thread.

Since you are MT I can't really speak to the issue. I like others will tell you the Magnuson Tune is weak at best. The YotaWerx Stryker Tune is far superior to the Magnuson for us AT folks. DM me - I am also in Golden.

I have an MT as well and I know exactly what you’re referring to.

The Stryker tune has made power delivery significantly more linear in 2nd, much better than it was either NA or with the Maggy SC tune. I spent a week and half last month driving at decent elevation (Glenwood Springs to Leadville) and thought the power delivery with the Stryker tune was just as good in lower gears at elevation as it is at sea level.

Thank you. For reference it's the complete bog in 2nd gear in the MT below 2.2k or so RPM. I always found that part of the powerband to be awful even when N/A. The reason it drives me nuts is my town has a ton of roundabouts and I drive them in 2nd and then when I try to accelerate out I have to really be light on the gas until I hit higher RPMs. Not expecting a lot of power there - but it lugs and then jolts forward when you step on it. Most of my driving is at high elevation (8-10k) and I think it's a little worse up high than it is in the Denver area ~5k. Glad to hear this solved it for you, I'm definitely considering the Stryker tune but need to hold on any more 'investments' in the truck for a while after shelling out for the unit!

MT here with the Stryker tune also. There is no bog in 2nd gear, it wants to pull hard from around 1500ish RPM and up. You will have no issues accelerating out of a roundabout in 2nd, I dive through a few on my way to work also. I've been very happy with the Stryker tune it is 100% better then the stock Maggy tune!

I drove my truck in a 2nd gear under 1k rpm condition multiple times today and never had any issues. I run the stryker+ tune.

Magnuson TVS1900 Supercharger with 87mm pulley, Catted OVTune dumptubes, Doug Thorley 2.5in y-pipe, custom mufflers, 76mm Tundra throttle body, 5.29 Yukon gears, JamesT custom fuel rails, Yotawerx 87mm tune, Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 suspension. And some other stuff.
It is amazing how much of a difference the Yotawerx Stryker tune makes and how much better it is than the Magnuson tune. The throttle response is so much better, the low end torque (with 5.29 gears and 33" mud tires) is wonderful. Even gas mileage is great! (As long as you aren't lead footing it). I averaged 20.1 MPG on a 25 mile drive in West Virginia where nothing is flat. And the shifting logic is SO MUCH better than the Magnuson tune. I think that is the part I hated the most about that tune.

Definitely worth the money. Can't wait till the 87mm pully tune comes out.

20220712_210919.jpg just a short towing trip report (loaded pop-up tent camper this time was 2,500 lbs +/-). Home base elevation 6K. Trip distance 100 miles each way. Minimal Highway route - mainly US6/US40 from home to camp site near Grand Lake, CO. One pass - Berthoud Pass, Elevation 11,306 ft. Lots of twisty turns with posted speeds btwn 45mph and hairpin turns sub 20mph. Average mpg round trip was 17.5 mpg. S mode - no issues and plenty of power for my needs. YW Stryker 90mm 33's 4.88's Tune. Thanks @mZiggy for the awesome work! Figured readers would like to see the Full Moon for a change! Enjoy!
