Is anyone using these speakers in their Tacoma. Crutchfield says they won’t fit but you can modify anything surely. I was mainly wondering how people liked them if they were running them in the front doors. Thanks Rick

Call the tech support line at Crutchfield. They may show it as not fitting because the tweeter does not come with an adapter to fit the tweeter into the factory dash location. It could be something that simple. You could also compare the mounting depth on the woofer with the mounting depth of other speakers that they claim will fit to confirm.

    Rick-

They fit fine with a layer of cld and nvx baffles for me to space them a bit from the window. I used these for the tweeters before moving them to the sail panels:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2J8892?ie=UTF8

I have them crossed 80-350hz, audiofrog gs25 to 3500, to tempo tweets- on a quick/dirty tune that will change as I feel these out using tools like REW. The woofers play low with authority and the tweets 'seem' ok. I have not auditioned any other tweeters in this vehicle so I say "seem'.

People post comments like I am posting without much knowledge of quality car audio so you may want to consider taking all opinions regarding the way component sets sound as a matter of opinion/ grain of salt. I have these as my woofer and tweets tuned with a helix dsp fed from a 6x100 amp and they sound good-*to me.* But I do not have a trained ear (likely more trained than average but not a definitive authority).

Understand that the question you are asking is a a relative one based on the A-B comparative knowledge of a user on a a forum about Tacoma trucks- likely not the best pool of knowledge regarding car audio. In Example: There is an extensive thread on here about Kicker coaxial speakers being a nice set up.

I would advise going to caraudiojunkies or diymobileaudio and seaching/ reading.

Search terms: sound stage, dsp tuning, three way active, sq, helix, user: skizer, etc....

To add: These components will sound terrible on your stock head unit with no processing/ amplification- worse than your stock speakers. This, I do know from experience.

I’ve got a new Kicker Key amp. I just wonder if it’s strong enough to make them sound decent

all depends on the end user, lol, what may sound decent to me may not sound decent to someone else.
it was good for my JL C-1 690 and its good enough with my current Morel Hybrid 62. Sure I could get these sounding better with a better amp/dsp going active with a tune.

I'm still a noob with not much experience and with that said the Morel's do sound much better at higher levels where its at bearable for my listening taste.

Thanks for that information ZMan2k2 because that’s what I’m going to go with I just havnt ordered them yet. I was just worried about the little kicker key having enough punch to make them sound good

@Night hunter Read through that thread. There’s a post there that perfectly describes your thought. “What sounds good to someone may not to someone else.” Let your ears decide.

If you bridge the Kicker Key it should have enough juice. I'm running my Tempos off of 70W ea channel through a Morel MPS4.400. Fantastic combo BTW, the MPS4.400 is truly an audiophile quality amp

Morels’ on order. Pension check came in. Unfortunately, it’s a long weekend in Canuckistan, so I won’t see them ‘til Friday. I have the NVX silicone baffles in, and HDPE baffles from TT. Hopefully, that’s the space bump I need.:fingerscrossed:

Okay, received my Morel 692s yesterday. Couple things I’ve noticed this morning,

    - The speaker measures to me at 3 3/8”, not the 3 7/16” on Crutchfield. I’ve measured the door at 3 5/16 with just my TT baffles. I’ve since added NVX silicone baffles to that, but didn’t measure depth. We’ll see. I believe it was @81malibu81 that stated a layer of cld should help, I have some Noico on hand if needed.

    - More minor, just an annoyance really. The supplied screws for holding the woofer, the head is too small. It can easily pass through the basket. Small plate washers, or larger screws are needed. I have the larger screws.

    - The screws supplied to hold the aluminum bracket on the tweeter cup for mounting on an adapter, yeah, they’re HUGE!! Gotta be 1 1/4 long. Something in the 1/2” range is all that’s needed. A trip to the hardware store is needed here.

**edit** For those following, with the TT HDPE mounting board, the NVX silicone baffle, IT FITS!! No interference from the window at all. Time to plan the install.
