I remember thinking I could get a pretty good amount of lean on my F4i. Then I went to my first track day... :anonymous:

The first time you drag your knee is an awesome feeling.

Then you have Fabio dragging his shoulder...can't imagine how fast those MotoGP guys are

Nah, I'm good, at least on the street. Maybe if I had time for another expensive hobby I'd try out track riding but I really don't need another hole to throw my time and money into.

    A bunch of junk
Once all set up, a track day weekend usually ran me between 500 to one thousand.
That was racing (WERA) an old Gixxer600. Barber Motorsports park or Nola Motorsports park mostly.

    Sure do miss it!

haha a fellow riding buddy of mine sent me a picture once, of a guy getting passed by a kid at the track.

Caption: There are two types of riders: those who have been gapped by a 10 year old, and those who haven't been to the track yet.

I'm heading to the track in about 2 hours for a 2 day event. Tracks up in new England are cheaper to run and operate than CA, VIR, NV etc. Paying $360 for track, food water $40, gas $100 bikes to run and tacoma get there and home. After the expense is tires, brakes, oil and assuming there were no incidents. Riding within your ability is the challenge for some, and a challenge for the rest of us avoid those who cannot.

You picked up the 2015-2019 model? Those are pretty bullet proof and super comfortable to ride. Enough electronics to safely keep you on the ground even in race model. Make sure you never disable DTC or remove the traction while riding which disables other features and allows for sliding, wheelies, lots of trouble. It's going to scare you the first time you ride it, and every time furthermore until you sell it lol.
That's the current new model aka K67 2020+. The Base model is like 437 pounds, race model is 434 and M-sport is 429 lbs. As if those few pounds make any difference for 98% of people on it.
Me too, but to put it in perspective imagine a rider weighs like 140-180 pounds who can control a 360 pound super sport with 270hp and rides THAT to its limit staying within a few seconds or less for an entire 18 or so lap race(Considering a track day you may get 6-8 laps in total and are exhausted by the end of it).
10 year old and also by a guy on a ninja 300 with 1/4 the HP as most people.

Anyone looking for a track toy? Looking to move on to the Tuono or Streetfighter.

The one I picked up is the 2014 model, so missing a few of the features that the 3rd gen has. Also discovered this morning in my research that the 2014 is only 192hp. plenty tame lol.

Lots of electronics, I think the only thing I'm really missing is the Dynamic Damping Control, Cruise Control, and ABS Pro. No plans to disable any of the electronic aids lol, I might like the thrill but I don't have a death wish. Definitley gonna need a new seat in the coming months, the OEM one is a little rough.

In this market you could have probably listed it for $4k. I think that’s a good price and you should get full asking price. With that said if you don’t get a lot of interest and somebody offers you what you want to get out of it might be worth taking.

Cool, that's what I was thinking, too!

Getting a lot of inquiries followed by a lot of... silence. I'm staying patient though!

Demo'd a KTM 1090R over lunch. Holy mother of god that's a massive bike.

However, I had a stellar sales guy listen to what I was trying to wedge the 1090 into doing and pointed me more towards a midrange tour bike, and I think that's what I'm actually in search of as my next bike. Swung a leg over the new Triumph Tiger 660 Sport and it fit me super well. Going back next week when it isn't drizzly for a ride on that, but may be my next bike shortly.

Yeah, I get that. I'm sorta over KTM making things way harder than normal on relatively everything. Limited dealers, snarky CS experience stories abound, etc. Triumph at least sounds like they've been trying to improve their standings vs the Japanese.

Their phone app they suddenly overhauled overnight and is still missing like 80% of their previously supported models (including mine ) really irked me

Watched several maintenance vids to get an idea of what I'd be dealing with. When a valve adjustment makes more sense than an oil change...:rolleyes:

Aaaand, just noticed that the bike is the standard model, i.e. non-adjustable suspension. :annoyed: Why is finding perfection so difficult???

a few things done to the klx recently i got a rack and some straps so i can hold things on it instead of using a ratchet strap lmao and i got a full bolt kit to replace all the mismatched bolts all over this bike! i need to rejet the bike again from the 155 to the 170 so atm its running a bit lean ill takle that this weekend. it could use some new rotors and pads here soon since i have no idea how old the ones on the bike are atm lol then tires eventually again since i ride a lot my knobbies are starting to wear down obviously so this next time im getting 50/50s instead of 90/10s lol
