Spoke to several dealers around Massachusetts today and I asked about their Tacomas’ in-transit. Specifically about QC holds and most had Tacomas sitting in East Brookfield on 70 day QC holds. What is missing/happening out there? Some have been there longer than mine(5/23/22)

    Greetings, all. New guy, here.

I joined TW back in February after a placed a deposit with my dealer, but because I didn't own a Tacoma, I deferred any involvement in the conversation and chose to just look and learn. I finally got a PERM VIN a couple weeks ago (yay). I've owned several Toyota's over the years, but this will be my first Tacoma (when/if it arrives). My first Toyota was an '80 Tercel (don't laugh, friends...it was a beast) and I put a 1/4 Million on that puppy...rest in peace. Just a little about me: Almost 30Yrs Active/Regular Army with plenty of "Off-Road" experiences in foreign lands, inhospitable environments, and around bad people. My current daily driver is a 2000 F-150 5.4L SuperCab 4x4 Off-Road that I've put a 1/4 Million miles on. It has served me well, and despite no current issues and 13mpg, it's time to move on to better pasture. After an extensive amount of research on mid-size trucks, it all pointed to the Tacoma hands down.
With my current age and position in life, I'm no longer in need of "Off-Road" capabilities and I have NO PLANS to get into a pickle jar I can't get out of. So, I settled for the "comfortably capable" Limited Nightshade in Black (don't laugh, friends...I'm gonna enjoy it, knowing it's still bad ass as a Limited). I've been watching this thread for several (and I mean SEVERAL) months now, and it's been very informative and a hoot to boot.

Last thing and I'll shut up. Is it me, or does it seem like all of this delay stuff seems to be benefiting just one person in the whole world? I mean, could this be a strange conspiracy that leads us all to @Rod03. Could it be that @Rod03 is somehow behind it all? Having said, that... @Rod03 would you kindly check a VIN for me 3TMGZ5AN3NM512108, and I'll be sure to contribute to that slush...er um beer fund? All the best to everybody here, and very humbly...thank you @Rod03. :)

I’d be leery of the aftermarket bulbs, we tried them in my wife’s 2021 4Runner and all was good at first, few months later started flickering, randomly shutting power, lightning up all the warning lights in the dash, one dealer messed with it for 3 weeks and didn’t figure it out, got pissed set up an appointment with the other dealer in town, told the SM what it was doing, he asked if we had aftermarket LED bulbs and when I told him we did he said bring it in we will swap back to original and no problems since. These were well respected and recommended bulbs but the SM said Toyotas don’t jive well with them.

    just my 2cents

Don't sweat the Limited. I ordered one as well since I found it difficult to find a lower trim with the options I couldn't live without. It was just easier to get options I didn't necessary want (such as leather and a moonroof). I wanted a Tacoma for the reliability, features, and again, reliability. I plan to spend 99% of the truck's life on pavement, so any additional off road features I don't need.

The separate thread isn’t a bad idea, I figured it was a long shot.

Turkino, I have to say I've been particularly keen on watching your situation develop, since you too have a Limited allocated. I hope yours comes in soon and it turns out to be great. I've had $ down since January. The frustration of the unknown is palpable.

My Tacoma was built in Guanajuato in early May. The pipeline I have shows "truck depart" a day later and "vessel depart" about five weeks later. The vessel journey lasted one week. Idk whether vessel refers to rail or ship in my case.

I was in a similar boat, looking for a manual Sport and getting multiple allocations missing the tech package I was looking for, which was a deal-breaker for me because I needed the sonar/BSM/RCTA for commuting/family reasons. I did expand my color selection from 1 to 3 choices to help expedite the search. Luckily I was eventually able to find my Tacoma in my 2nd color choice but I was prepared to have to wait longer into 2022 MY or even 2023 if necessary.

As you have already found out waiting 9 months, in this market trying to get a manual Tacoma in a specific color/trim/packages at a local dealership is very difficult, especially for MSRP. If your heart was set on LR and you're willing to wait, Toyota has already said it will be offered again for 2023 MY for Trail edition so presumably it will also be available on other trims. However if you are flexible on color and don't need the premium package and want to lock in today's pricing then I'd say go for the MGM.

Morning everyone! Brown Toyota in Glen Burnie, MD just called to let me know they have a few tacos on the lot ready for delivery and a few more coming in soon.

    MSRP - no markup.

Frances Alexander was the guy I’ve been working with and he’s awesome. +1 (410) 787-9141

I second this recommendation. Brown's is one of the few Maryland dealerships not marking up vehicles. My salesperson there was Carolina Schluter and I would strongly endorse her as well. Very responsive and easy to talk to and she requested my build probably ten times over five months. Even though it was never accepted it was not for a lack of effort. No deposit required unless vehicle was allocated.
