Hi all, just bought a brand new Tacoma 2022 Limited 4x4 a couple days ago and not even 100 miles on it warning message came up “High Transmission Fluid…”
WTF! Waiting for tow truck to tow back to dealership right now! Not a good start to owning my first Toyota!

Maybe someone put some edibles in the transmission fluid :rasta:

don’t fret. That’s why warranties exist. Even tho I know it’s frustrating

I understand your frustration but things happen, even to new vehicles. Years ago I dated a girl who bought a brand-new Corolla which two or three days later had the line for the trans cooler in the radiator pop-off and drain all it's fluid all over the road, leaving her stranded. Toyota towed it, fixed it and she drove that car trouble-free for at least the next couple of years.

In your case, give the Dealer a chance to fix it, enjoy a day or two in a rental and don't embarrass yourself by screaming like a fool at the Dealer, threatening to hire an Attorney, demanding a night with the salesman's daughter or ranting about an upgrade to something else. Maybe asking for an extended warranty at no cost might be a good idea but you'll get way more with a calm attitude.

I agree with you, life is short. I just hope they can make this right. I like the idea of extended warranty. Not sure who I will have to contact for this.

It’s probably a sensor issue, not the transmission itself. That warning would have come it right away the day you bought it, if it was truly over-filled. It’s not like fluid added itself to a sealed transmission.

Most likely some silly little nothing that triggered the message, with only 100 miles on it I wouldn't be worried at all. These trucks are great.

Fluid probably wouldn't have added itself to an unsealed transmission too :D

I would drive it straight to the dealer and if it blows on the way there well it is under warranty just saying.

Could be a sensor or a connector came loose.

    Normal causes are...
Not enough fluid, too much fluid or driving in too low of a gear for a long period WILL overheat the transmission.

Towing a boat/load in a high gear/ overdrive or driving in tow mode at high speeds while NOT towing is an issue as well.

I’d be angling for the service manager’s daughter.

Update: Just got a call back from the service manager at Toyota. Nothing was found wrong after running test and test drive. Go figure!

Did the truck shut off when this happened or did it run rough?

Sounds like a one-off odd gremlin and I wouldn't worry about it. This issue has been documented buy the dealer so if it happens again then you'll have that in your pocket. I wouldn't lose 1 minute of sleep over this. Take the truck out on the exact route that it occurred on - same speeds etc -

Light came on when trying to readjust the truck in the garage. Just got home from an errand that was a few minutes away, drove the truck into the garage parked it, turned off the truck and got off. Noticed the truck wasn’t parked right(yes rookie mistake) got back in the truck, turned the truck back on and that’s when the light came on for few quick seconds and went away. Hopefully it’s nothing but ….
