I have a 2011 Tacoma 2.7l and it... has some issues. I probably need to work on throttle body and fuel pump (filter) but at the moment it usually dies when pressure is removed from the gas pump. Is there any way to adjust the idle? I think I had the ecm trained but just replaced battery and alternator and am starting at zero again.

You have to clean the throttle body. Throttle cleaner or penetrating fluid works.

Next time you replace the battery, turn the key on for 10 seconds before starting and it will prevent this issue.

Yeah.. my dad has been suggesting I need to do that. I should probably listen to him occasionally. Thanks I will look into the 10 seconds key suggestion for next time.

Why not fix the actual problem instead of creating potential new ones? Did you replace the fuel filter? If for some reason it’s your only solution you can adjust the idle where your throttle pulley is most likely looks and works like a bicycle brake. If you do that I’d mark where it is before so you can put it back.

No fuel filter on 2nd gens, it is integrated into the fuel pump.

No idle adjustment on 2nd gens either, they are drive-by-wire and PCM controls the idle.

As suggested above disconnect the battery, clean the throttle body, reconnect, and allow the truck to idle up to operating temp to relearn the idle.

I think fuel filter will require pulling the tank and replacing the fuel pump. I will check again but I think throttle is electronic. I am very fond of my Toyota but am starting to miss my old cj7 right now

Just wanted to say thanks. The little bit of carbon on throttle body seems to have been all it was
