Seriously considering going back to OEM size tires, and have currently narrowed the field to these two. As with most things, a mix of both would be my preference (along with a stronger sidewall & rim protection), but reality requires selecting one.

There are existing threads for not the Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek and Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT, but I’ve not seen a comparison in TW. I would appreciate input from anyone that has driven either or both; especially if you’ve spent time aired-down and/or offroad.

In for opinions as well, but there might not be too many on the Bosses since they're so new

I'm trying to go larger not smaller - it's too bad the Rugged Treks don't come in more large sizes

Yeah, I don’t expect many, if any, responses, but figured it won’t hurt to ask. Currently Cooper doesn’t have any promotions, but MT has a $100 rebate.

That's interesting considering Mickey Thompson is a sub-brand of Cooper

My guess is that Cooper has a much wider customer base and is more well-known to the masses. On the other end of the spectrum, Goodyear nearly always has a promotion. I suppose they want to make sure they out-sell all the former competitors they bought out?

2D9E95F2-FB38-4A9C-B433-4F9CA8E08856.jpg I am running the rugged treks in the factory 265/70 r16 size. I have had them for about 20k miles so far. They’ve been great on every surface I’ve used them on. I am thinking about going to the st maxx or stt pro in 2 years when I move to AZ. Im just not sure how the SL rated rugged treks will do on the rocks and hard trails out there. For the Midwest though, the rugged treks have impressed me many times.

I know this is an older post, but how are you still liking the Rugged Treks? How do they do in the rain and on wet roads? Any hydroplaning?
