Some good ideas, I may hit you up on mirrors and door handles down the road. Power adjustable mirrors would be kinda nice someday. Door handles I can see being nice too.

For the door panel vinyl, this thread. I have the material, just need to do the work.
For the HVAC controls, this thread. I don't have the controls but I am close to buying the connectors and trying to put together something plug and play. I love crimping but soldering I am more pedestrian, not quite as skilled when it comes to liquids vs solids overall.

Clutch switch in and connected, that was a bit of a pain.

    Hahaha…
You just completed the hardest part! Locating the wire to plug it in is easy or difficult.

Switch in, now I get to determine if I have to run extra wires I think?

It took some extra blood on top of the finger I sliced 2-3mm off yesterday, now I have symmetric dings

The plastic plugs/clips plug into the cruise control control switch on the wheel and into the center of steering wheel. The metal (without insulation) plugs into the horn.

Yeah other than horn wire transfer this one appears to have been plug and play. Thanks for all the help

Also photos of my wheel and bag. Didn’t attempt a wheel swap as I’m going to do half the drive today and the second half on Wednesday to help my bro in law finish his horse haul.

i was thinking you could show the wire & switch so we could direct the next member here where the wire goes. How hard was the wire for the clutch pedal switch to locate?

Yeah I should have taken photos then, I agree. I got excited.

I had located the clutch pedal wire a few days ago off a photo from the instructions provided. That Tom White guy is the man. Didn’t need anything from him except the stalk, trim ring and the clutch switch.

curious what happens with the clutch switch unplugged. Does that allow shifting while cruise is on? But it’s dumb and will rev up so not smart to do? Third gen adaptive cruise is supposedly smarter but I have basic cruise on my 2016.

I *think* the cruise light comes on in the dash but the system will not engage.

I’ve tried to convince many others that all Tacoma’s are pre-wired for this option but others swear up and down I’m crazy just because they don’t have the correct parts! Either they have aftermarket parts, the wire/s are NOT correct or they don’t have the clutch pedal switch installed correctly or they gotten a bad used part/s. I purchased the wrecked Tacoma hit in the rear and drove the truck around for a few weeks not knowing the brake switch was out. I then realized that’s why it was hit in the rear. No brake lights‼️

So now that cruise is squared, @Hayrider, any ideas on power mirror upgrade options? And color keyed door handles?

I may bite the bullet and order a new third brake light as the gasket looks toast and the lens feels brittle.

Hahaha… about the powered mirrors w/ signals let me know what you find out‼️ :anonymous:
I know @05Taco4x4 installed a set, might pick his head, as a matter of fact he did all kinds of neat mods… He also has his Reg. cab for sale and considering the mods & condition it’s a sweet deal!!

As for the color handles I just had my parts guy ordered them. The two handles are the same part number one cover w/ a key hole & one without… plus your gold is going to be different than my white.

Got my HKB voltage booster in, finishing the second half of the drive today. Got 24.7 MPG on the last tank, I’ll take it. Filling up was a pain though, second time I’ve had to fight the pump auto shutoff. I wonder if my filler neck is messed up / bent? Anyone had trouble with that?

    Dave,
Being you’re the electrical guru and we both now have 05’s. Can you figure out a way to have the turn signal lights just inside of the headlights to work as DTRL’s? Also find a way to get side mirrors with signals to work in early 2nd Gens.?

Mirrors are definitely on the long term list. I’ll have to find a set. From there getting power adjustment is likely harder than wiring the turns. I already swapped to the DD flasher.

DRL seems like the potentially easier lift as the 3 position connector is only pinned with 2 wires in mine, turn and ground. Just wire a constant hot to the 3rd spot and I believe you have dim DRL and full bright flash. To get full bright flash w full bright DRL is more complicated but can definitely be done with a trailer module which is meant to combine brake and turns but would work fine to combine DRL and turns. But an easier solution to all that is a switchback bulb to get white DRL and amber turn. That’s my current plan.

I think I may get new headlights too, but that’s the tough one as they are pricey and my current set are in pretty good condition.

So, yeah, all on the radar. For DRL I really have to decide if I’m going to do a new stalk or not. As I also have no fog switch right now. I happen to have a spare 3rd gen Tacoma stalk but not sure if it mounts up and / or uses the same connector. Seems likely it doesn’t.

of course stalk is cheap :)
