Hit 91,000 trouble free miles! Installed new plugs, cleaned AFE air filter, greased up the drive shafts and oil change on a rainy day. Installing new hub assemblies this week. 2E252A41-5EE8-49CE-8EA9-83D30D17993D.jpg

Made a 4 way tire inflator/deflator, and gave the driveshaft a refresh. I ordered a jumper cable bag for the tire inflator in hopes it would hold it all and turned out perfect. New u joints, center bearing, greased slip yoke, and new flange yoke for the driveshaft.

I made a deflator/reinflator like that a while back. So simple. Never understood why ppl pay hundreds for those things

I agree I’ve wanted one ever since I saw one but there was no way I was paying so much for something so simple to make.

I'm in the process of doing the same but due to flooding in my area not long ago, I'm tryin to find the while bearing and hub assembly. The fronts are in stock everywhere but I cannot find the rear. What did you end up doing?

Yeah we did a sailboat cruise out around some of the other islands and it was super cool despite some of the weather we faced.

Yup I’ve been out at Travis for the past almost 2 years now.

Not on that trailer. I have done major upgrades to the Tacomas brakes.

Towing a car hauler without trailer brakes is risky business. Like driving a Jeep over 40 mph risky.

Not what I did to my second gen, but rather for my second gen.

I finally finished building my cabinet. It’s not perfect but not bad for my first real woodworking project. Plus it’s for the garage so it will get beat up anyways. Tomorrow I can start reorganizing the garage.

Change the gasket man. I have the exact same one and had its first downpour and started leaking. Only been installed for like 6 months.

My 2016 Sport looked like that at around 5k miles. Squeaked so bad I was ashamed to drive it. The MASTER TECHNICIAN at the dealer thought he fixed it by removing and greasing my sway bar bushings. He was a smart one. Didn't even test drive it. I got 1 block from the dealer and it started squeaking again. One of several things that required my video in an email to Toyota Corporate to get fixed correctly. Then it pissed me off that they would only replace the passenger side. Just one of many reasons I sold that truck with 25k miles. 2nd genner for life.

2nd gens have the same problem, they are after all essentially the same truck.

I did what the original guy above did and used the larger general purpose polyurethane bushings with liberal grease application and haven't had issues since, the front used to squeak and shake a lot before I did it.

What did you change to? I question it too. Might just gob it up with silicone. Rained the past couple days and it was fine but it is brand new

Yes but a 6 month old truck with 5k miles is a little different. Plus this was one of multiple issues that the dealer hosed up or failed to repair under warranty without Corporate intervention. That 2016 was in the shop more than any vehicle I owned in nearly 50 years. For comparison my wife's 2016 Ford Escape, bought before my 2016 Tacoma, has never been in for a single issue in nearly 7 years. The day after selling my 3rd gen I received yet another recall notification. Good riddens.

Well today was a productive weekend so far for me. I was trying to upload as I went but that didn't go as planned. So the first night I installed my 9 wire in my truck. From the head console I have 1 set running down the A pillar. Then the second 9 wire is running to the C pillar. It's good to know old audio and video installer to make things go faster! Then put a 20 pin connector on the A pillar wire to make it easier on me to go to the fuse box in the engine bay.

    20220714_003424.jpg
Now that that's done on day 2 I modified my console to install the Meso Custom 10 short switches.

    20220714_102513.jpg

Then I wired up my 3 switches I have for now. I will add as I get things I need to wire up.

    20220714_155954.jpg 20220714_160000.jpg 20220714_165336.jpg

Then installed it to see how it looked. I even got my new shift knob so I installed that also.

This week I'm going to try to get the air tank, compressors and relax boxes installed. Then have the fun job of wiring everything up! Going to try to post at the end of the day to make my post not as long.lol Hope you all are having a good weekend!!!
