Downstream of the switch is disconnected & capped. Hell you may as well disconnect & cap both ends of that wire that goes from the switch to the outlet. The wire will still be in the wall but disconnected on both ends. The switch can be removed & the wall patched. Or the switch can remain & be repurposed for something else. Not sure how anything is backfeeding anywhere. The outlet is still getting power from the same "always hot" source, it's just powering both plugs once you take the switch out of the picture.

I recently bought a small freezer and put it in the dining room, ran a dedicated circuit for it.

Sugar bomb. Not good when you are in your mid 60's. Some kind of strawberry lemonade pie.

Did a little more electrical work today. Added a couple outlets on their own 20a circuit in the master to run my computer and a small window AC unit in case the old central AC quits. I must be getting pretty good at measuring out where I need to drill, went right to it with my pulling rods!

Also did some outlet switching in the garage. I moved the GFCI from the outside wall to upsteam one outlet where it will be inside. Hopefully that will solve the pre-mature GFCI failures...

Welp, that explains why my power bill was so high the last 2 months. Thought the $ rise was due to losing a very large tree last winter that covered the western side of the house (like the whole thing including most of roof). Noticed today that the air coming out of the ducts smelled like attic. Went up and found the return plenum disconnected. Not sure if it’s supposed to be held on by more than the aluminum tape but that was my fix unless it needs something else. Any HVAC guys care to chime in?

Not an HVAC guy but seems like solid mechanical attachment would be necessary

Agreed. Tape should be secondary to seal the seams. A mechanical connection should hold the two together.

Taping directly to the unit is common with the duct board.standard practice is the build a sheet metal plenum then attach either flex duct with a metal collar or plenum box. It should be okay they way you have it but would look into getting It addressed in the future.
