The manual certainly pulls in high RPMs but is still really lacking in the low end.

OP going for aftermarket headers/exhaust improvements are minimal in a NA application (or sometimes detrimental without proper tuning). Same goes for upgrading your air intake system. Fine tuned supercharged or turbo applications really take advantage of improving flow via bigger headers/exhaust. If all you are looking for is a little more pep folks on here are correct to suggest a tune first. Also regearing but it might get your rpms up while on the highway. Good luck with this rabbit hole called TW.

It is not the worst but it is nowhere near quick. Even supercharged it is adequate but not impressive.

In the Day, we installed high rise manifolds, double pumpers and headers from the get go. Duel point distributor and gearing came next, but it took a whole lot of burger flipping at 3.25 a hour, plus tips...lol..."plus tips." Now days these kids expect tips. Super Shop! Who remembers?

quite a bit late, but thanks for asking. one of my long term projects had been a set of equal length headers. mostly to make it sound slightly different.

and i had looked up in the wheel well. sure looked like a set of headers to me...

Yep, I’ve got the KD max tune right now… considering trying another tune or the new XT variant. I do also have an intake, coils, and I’m regeared (nitro 4.88s). I’m much faster than stock, but I’m always interested in finding new ways to eke out a bit more performance. Seems like the only other major performance mod left is forced induction.

i can't speak for the effect on the AT trucks, but regarding available performance mods, I regard Solid Off-road's motor mounts to be a proper performance mod for the 3g MT trucks. our trucks can show a ton of performance from adding up all the little things, and it does add up on the MTs, just not sure what AT guys see with those mounts. but on my MT truck, those mounts are among the top 3 regarding the improvement they provide.

Per the EPA, it is illegal to modify/delete catalyzers. They have been coming down hard on the bike industry in recent years. A lot of exhaust manufacturers have had to make adjustments in their sales practices. The fines are astronomical.

I remember when I first joined TW after buying mine in '20. I told a friend at work and he just...rolled his eyes, threw his head back and said, "oh my god! those guys!":rofl:

This is a very successful, free, minimal ads (at the bottom), well ran site with a lot of personalities. We were all “newbs” at one point and some forget that. I’m not going to lie…no flippen clue on the 3.5 head design. So I learned something from this thread (useless knowledge, but hey:thumbsup:).

I have personally seen great sites take the graveyard dive due to not addressing BS like this. Pirate4x4 comes to mind…

Spent plenty at Super Shops in the 80's. Oh how I hated setting gap and dwell on those dual points. Then Mallory came out with the Uni-Lite pointless distributor. Set the timing and drive on.

For those interested, here is why regular multi tube and bundle of snakes headers do not apply. Toyota has built the main part of the manifold into the cylinder head. This was done so the exhaust gasses can be cooled via the regular liquid cooling system, the cooling jackets can be seen in *b pic.
