Good taste. I had a 07 Mazda3 5door 5spd, and then traded that for my 10 Tacoma 6spd. The Mazda was a ton of fun, and it wasn't a speed3

I didn’t have the speed 3 either. 2.5L, sport trim. Auto though. I’m a lazy driver. :notsure:

I miss that thing. For what I got for trade in I should have just kept it.

Oh, yeah, bananaland timing. Horrible time to need to buy a vehicle.

Hey earlier I was talking about how the ridgeline, ranger, frontier were better options and the tacoma, objectively, was number 4 on the list of best fit.

Subejctively, I needed the tacoma instead of the other 3 :D

Gotta do what you gotta do. We bought a house with a yard a couple years back and the dog runs the show, worth it.

Not sure, I don't know the organizers just figured I'd post it since it's a localish event. I know there aren't much in the RI/MA and CT area.

I did the Mazda Zoom Zoom Live back in 2005 and 2006 and one year they had one of the timed events with a Mazda 3. I forget the exact details, it might have been an auto-cross, but it was definitely a timed event and I tossed it around a bit and it was fun.

My wife had a 2016 CX-5 for about eight months and I really enjoyed it. My wife wants to look at Mazda again in the future.

Anything slightly interesting / enthusiast has been exploding, it’s wild. Obviously the price of all cars have jumped up, but I’ve been looking around at various enthusiast cars and prices have gone crazy town.

Back then I was big into the auto-cross scene. Mazda did the events you described leading to an eventual national winner. A guy from Connecticut who was a multiple national auto-cross champ prepped for the Mazda events by showing up to local events and not walking the course, just getting to the start line and going green like you would at Mazda. He won nationally and was awarded a new car. Twice. Mark Daddio, known in auto-x circles as The Alien.

I miss those events. I wasn’t any good when I did them since at the time I had no experience with RWD, but I wish they still did them. The last one I did was a Cadillac one with the ATS-V. My favorite one was the Focus ST. I beat their benchmark time which I was reasonably proud of.

Got all my skid plates and sliders installed this afternoon. I seem to have a few leftover parts though.

The girlfriend's 2016 CX-5 is about to roll over 100k and has been solid. My only complaint with it is how weirdly optioned it is - how in the world does something have steering LED headlights and rain sensing wipers, but no heated seats or mirrors? I think Mazda realized that for the newer ones, though, and that is no longer the case.

Come to think of it if I'm listing complaints, the upgraded Bose sound in it is pretty abysmal - sounds like a decent base system, but not the premium option. The B&O in my F-150 is way better and I don't even think that's all that good for a premium OEM system.

But, it's reliable, looks better than the competition, gets good mileage with adequate power, and is more fun to drive than you'd expect. She'll probably get another Mazda after this one.

It’s likely a Touring with the Tech package, right? The Grand Touring with the Tech had heated seats. Mazda actually put the heated seats in the 2016.5 Touring final refresh model, but we had a regular 2016.

My biggest regret was not getting the Tech package but I was being stupid frugal at the time. When I stuffed it (not my fault, still angry) we nearly bought another but Grand Touring / Tech but my wife had wanted a Grand Cherokee since she was 14 and we had the opportunity to grab one.

I bet a CX-5 with the 2.5 Turbo motor would be a hoot to drive.
