    General question

Can a contractor abandoned a project like a porch? If a fire broke out and I had to exit through that doorway.

    Seems like he's milking things.

The plan was, He will get paid once the job is completed.

If a fire happens I have one way out, unless out the window.

I have a heated garage using a gas furnace. The PO installed it himself, I think. There was duct tape on the hot gas exhaust pipe. :annoyed::censored: :frusty:

That was one of the first things I fixed.

Ask him point blank if he will be on the job Monday. If not WHEN? How close are you to your completion date?

What if no fire? You climb in and out the window?? Illegal in most 3rd world countries.

This is the way he left it. There some gravel in the larger compartment now.

I still have the side entrance/exit but if that is block off I'm stuck. Right now, one way in/out.

Not sure how both raw ends are but if there isnt a flange on one ende all you you would need are Slips. (see below on the right) stick on one end of the duct and then slid onto the other duct. Get some sheet metal screws and drill right into the slip. then tape. should be good after that. Prob can get a length at HD/ Lowes

    The door works or not??

If bad fire you could still jump in the pit and climb out

You need something like this made for that opening and then connect a coller and flex duct to it....

I take it that there is nothing connected to that box other than that flex duck? Is that a supply side (air going to house) or return side (inside air coming from the house)?

Door works. From a liability standpoint if someone get hurts, Who is responsible?

It was supposed to be finish last week but he's procrastinating. It's holding everything else up.

was told by a couple different people they're surprised it is still allowed to be used.

This. appeared shortly after the pre-winter service check was done on it.

seems something like that is beyond my willingness to handle. I'm probably capable but dealing with other issues, going to get a pro up there in next couple weeks. the foil/alum tape seems to be holding pretty well and will keep an eye on it every few days.

return side. only thing connected to it. the builders of this house definitely seemed to band-aid over some stuff and it's annoying TF out of me.

Was there something stated in your contract, that he needs to have it accessible for emergency situations? Or anything about it mentioned at all? If not I would assume you are responsible for your own safety/liability.

Got a small step ladder? Id put that there in meantime. In the unlikely event of a fire.

Kinda douchy thing to do but lots of contractors every where these days are lazy. And take no pride in their work. Hopefully they get it done

They leave the yard a mess. Stuff is everywhere, tripping hazard.
