    Cruise control ?... I don't think that is recommended at all towing something like that.
    With that load I would run ECT and S mode (4).

    My thoughts aren't gospel - but that's the way I run with a much smaller teardrop, up much steeper passes (I'm aware of that I-5 run), in much hotter (AZ) weather.

    This is how I run when towing my boat. 22' Seay Ray Express Cruiser. The over heating/running hot was not an issue last year at the same temps. I have an appointment at the stealership tomorrow morning. I post up once I know more. I got the high coolant temp warning again yesterday doing some light off roading...was about 85 degrees. Seems like idle with AC is a culprit too.

    I had only inspected the front of the radiator, which looked good. Figured I'd take the shroud off to get a good eye on the back of it before heading to the stealership and...holy $shit I can't believe it was able to run at all and not over heat. Mud City! Spent about 30 minutes washing it out with the garden house until the water ran clear out the front of the fins. All set now! Its nice when the easy fix is the fix.

    Scan gauge to monitor both engine temp and trans temp. I always keep an eye on trans temp when I tow. If your engine is getting that hot, I can only imagine the trans.

    The radiator in the 3rd Gen has a high density core to deal with all the extra heat that the 2GR-FKS places into the coolant. So it's easier to clog and more important than ever to keep it clean.

    We get a few days a year at 100 & 100%...but they are rare where I am close to Lake Huron. You can keep that heat in TX, along with the flood of Californians lol. (ps my wife is from Manhattan Beah)
