That’s what I thought at first. But nobody is at fault and it still falls on my homeowners insurance.

Wow. Not surprised but doesn't seem right. Our neighbor keeps wanting us to trim our trees that are overhanging in his yard. Said he'd help pay a little. We get the tree guy out who asked us why are we paying. Apparently the property line goes straight up and he's responsible for those limbs. We didn't know that and I'm sure he doesn't either. But he's been a great neighbor so we're just gonna follow thru with paying for most of it.

Yup, that's the way it works. Our backyard neighbor prunes the limbs from our trees that overhang into her yard. We do the same in reverse.

My .02 -- which probably isn't even worth that much -- would be to ask the neighbor if you two can walk the property line and identify problem trees, then work together to get rid of them for the sake of both your properties.

These are really big pretty oak trees and provide a lot of shade for the back yard. I'd rather not get rid of them. He's ok that they're there, just need to trim them up.

Yeah I got some pretty decent size one in my backyard. I ain't me up crowning it last year and had a couple in the front yard. I crowned as well. Looks a lot better and no more low hanging branches or branches close to the house

so, if a storm causes a tree to fall over from my property and hit a home next to mine, it is my problem? I think not. That is 100% out of my control.

give it a few months and I bet you'll start seeing more and more new cars on the lots and sitting for a period of time.

BTW if you get an allocation on a NX450h+ let me know.

If there is a tree on your property that is leaning half across the road, you do nothing about it and it falls, that could be construed as negligence on your part.

This nearly happened to me. We had an old pine fall onto another pine that I knew was going to fall over the road and take out power lines soon. I called Duke to take it down, they agreed with me and dispatched Asplundh. Asplundh drug their feet and the tree fell across the road, took out power to the neighborhood, and fell into the neighbor's yard doing some minor fence damage. In this case I was not negligent as I had already did my due deligence.

^^^ I also talked to the neighbors before the tree fell and let them know I had been in touch with Duke so they knew I was making an effort to take care of things.

i will agree with this, but otherwise a normal standing tree in good health is not my problem if it falls and hits someone elses house. hopefully I never encounter this situation, but also why I keep an solid homeowners policy and umbrella to match.

I was only referring to trimming the limbs, not a tree falling.

Good luck! I'm shocked we've gotten 2 allocations so far. One is already sold and out the door. The other is incoming and already sold.

Go down the road to Savannah, or up the road to Charleston, and I am only partially kidding.

No OHV park and I'm not sure of any trails close by. There is the Francis Marion NF up towards Charleston but honestly that's not worth the drive from Hilton Head. Sadly we all have to head to the upstate for anything decent. Also, no driving on the beach.
