I planned to buy icon external resi shocks to pair with their front coils and all pro standard leaf packs, but it seems they are too short for the 3” of lift the leaf pack provides, and I don’t want to over extend my shocks. What do you suggest, save ordering custom shocks from King?

Rear shock relocation, with custom shocks.

That sounds a bit extensive, requires math, and I don’t have a welder.

Are there any alternative shock options you’d recommend?

My truck is lifted about 2" and I used some bilsteins meant for lifted trucks. Can't remember what the part number was.... They weren't hard to find though.

I could have used the tundra bilstein 5100 or the Tacoma 5160, but I went with fox smooth bodies in the end.

I have icons front and rear with a dakar leafpack and they were great

That being said if i were to do it again, I would jump straight to Kings or ADS

I was told that icons would only be good for 1.5” of lift, and my leaf packs will provide 3-4” so I needed something a bit longer. I thought about kings, but they are a 20 week lead time, if not longer, and I needed these before the end of august.

You'd be going backwards; Kings are OEM length whereas the Icons would be longer.

You're learning now that the first response, my response, most accurately answers what you're trying to achieve.

Any bolt-on applications made for 1st Gen Tacoma's will list a total height of 1.5" to 2" unless it's some crappy block kit with cheap shocks. Otherwise that's it.

Reason being because the factory mounts limit just how big of a shock you can install; it's physically not possible to have a shock that extends enough while at the same time, compressing to something similar to stock. This is why extended bumpstops are a thing.

Buy the Icons, get extended bumpstops, or simply go as initially suggested.

These trucks are super old and there's nothing new to ask for that isn't already out, available, and done thousands of times already.

I have the Toytec Aluma Series shocks on my truck - direct bolt-on, designed for 1-3" of lift, and fully rebuildable:

I had the icon's. While they were nice and road awesome. They were marginally ok as far as trave wise and are really ment for stock hight. I ran 2 passengers shock."I believe which ever was longer " . And I was running out of length for droop.
Your really doing yourself a disservice by not relocating. Either the lower mounts or to both behind the axle.
