Dude was hit by someone running a red light. Is it far from the relm of possibility there was an injury? Would it be fucking STUPID not to get thoroughly checked out medically? Are the chances pretty high a Doctor will find issues they think should be treated... whether it be with medication, or physical therapy?

But no... we got this dipshit over here calling "insurance fraud" because it's suggested that someone should make sure and cover every base for possible, physical injuries... even maybe the type of injury that can present it's self in the future.

I only suggested OP should make sure and make a point to tell the assholes at the Insurance Company (they ARE, ALL, assholes) he'll be seeking medical advise/treatment.

I'd have to agree bringing up personal injury a month later, after expressing unhappiness with settlement amount, is probably a dumb idea. This is an individual dealing with professionals, who see this every single day, and can spot "fraud" (whether anyone sees it as that or not) from a mile away.

To improve on your point, because its not a terrible suggestion at its core, OP could lawyer up, and THEN bring those personal injury claims to light. Typically the only way to beat their system, is to use it against them; find someone who knows it just as well as they do. But generally, if you don't have personal injury, don't go to fight for it. A lawyer could advise on whether your case for it or the aftermarket parts is worth fighting.

Edit to add, this is also why it seems to be a really good idea to have your items insured through your own provider BEFORE an event; so you can coordinate everything through them, get the solutions you're owed up front (as quickly as it can be), and only be out a deductible, until its all closed up and you get your deductible back. You pay your insurance for these services, its really unfair to yourself to have to deal with somebody else's in these kinds of events, because the other party's insurance does NOT have your best interest in mind.

I printed off all my mods and submitted them to my law firm , and they gave them to progressive. I was paid dollar for dollar on my mods except tires.

Perhaps it wasn't what you intended but that's how your previous post landed for me as well. Acting like a dick ain't gonna help you walk it back.

You catch more flies with honey. Painting with a broad brush demonstrates a lack of u/s of how any of this works but it is an opportunity to learn.

Out of curiosity, was that printout a compilation of all of your invoices (showing prices you paid), or the current pricing of those products?

Please point out where OP stated they were injured! Your comment insinuated using the potential of injury to sway their decision on payout. That is literally the definition of insurance fraud...

Always a good idea to keep receipts for mods so you can establish value. Current pricing would not come into play unless you had a rider on the policy that provides guaranteed replacement cost at time of settlement. You would want to get quotes for new mods at the time of the loss if so.

Many people are involved in accidents and don't report injury, don't realize they are injured, and end up paying the price for it later.

Often times it's because they just don't want the hassle, don't want to be "that guy" or... don't want some dub fucking putz accusing them of "insurance fraud" for getting themselves checked out.

THIS is a big reason why Insurance Companies own most of the biggest buildings in all of the biggest cities.

I didn't suggest anyone should fake anything. But just about EVERYONE has a sore back, neck, shoulder... OR SOMETHING after being involved in a wreck. I SAID... get that checked out, and make sure the asshole from the Insurance Company hears about that.

Three months ago, I was T-boned and my 2015 Tacoma was totaled. I was told by the adjuster that my modifications were of no value. Since this was a moronic statement because the modifications I made were improvements and not foolish things done to the vehicle, I stood firm and was persistent. Eventually, I was paid everything I asked for. I am changing insurance companies come renewal time. Save all receipts and stand firm. My father was the VP of Liberty Mutual in two major cities and used to profess that insurance companies are scum. They are scum, maybe a necessary evil, so fight the good fight. Best of success.

I work for an insurance compny. Most insurance companies cover 1k in CPE (Custom Parts and Equipment) If you pay an additional amount per month you can increase that amount. Unfortunately if your rolling around with a ton of stuff and it gets totaled your gonna be out money. The risk essentially is for a stock vehicle with common a/m parts.

If you have front and rear steel bumpers, roof top tent/bed rack ect. The average consumer is not looking for that type of stuff when the purchase a tacoma.

because he insinuated that OP should falsify injury claims. Not saying OP doesn't have every right to be seen, treated, and compensated for any amount of injury (big or small); they just shouldn't use it as bait for the sole purpose of trying to get a larger money amount for truck-only claims. There's a right and wrong way to pursue injury claims, and doing it the "wrong" way only sets the OP up for failure (which is not what any of us want). Again, I'd also encourage OP to get evaluated medically, and use any avenue they can to get compensated for their loss; but the "right" way.

I think it speaks for itself, which is why someone else called him out on it, but its okay to disagree. All that matters is that OP understands that there's a right and wrong way to bring personal injury into the equation, which is still completely irrelevant because it is its own claim, but thats kinda beside the point.

I don't think anyone can twist it any other kind of way besides "dangle personal injury over the insurance company's head to get a higher percentage compensation for your truck loss." Its just bad advice, and is by definition insurance fraud, whether he believes it to be or not. But no ones here to bash the guy; the thread is about OP trying to navigate their truck loss settlement, not medical.

Print out of invoices , thankfully 90% of my purchases were online. So I could pull most from email or Amazon .
but I can’t state it enough, I was laid up for 2yrs . With out my personal injury protection (pip) and wage loss through insurance I would have been in a bind.
