That’s what I thought as well because I did reuse some of them. I will go through and replace all the nylon nuts.

Alright, so I thought I would share some info. Over the weekend I started to feel like the H70HD's might have been the wrong choice for me, the rear was feeling a little on the stout side through bigger stuff and I was not getting into the bump stops even a little. I just got off the phone with Deaver asking about pulling a spring or two to bring the rear down some and to soften things up. According to Jeff, pulling the 5th Leaf from the main puts the H70HD pack at an in between level from the normal pack to the HD pack. Might be helpful, might not be. Just thought I would contribute to the bank of knowledge in here.

Can you share how much weight you have in the bed?

I can't leave anything well enough alone
yes, or even more beneficial would be the rear axle weight, scaled... your truck is so different with the mods that some number of estimated additional pounds of sprung weight in the bed doesn't really have any consistent baseline with other trucks IMO.

Between the rear bumper and frame plating/bracing I am probably around 200lbs heavier than stock in the rear. I know the regular deaver H70 pack is very light so that's why I stayed away from in. I'm more or less telling people if they are heavier than stock but not heavy enough for the HD's that you can pull a leaf to fall in between.

What set of bolt holes did you use on the rear leaf spring mount? If you aren't in the very back set of holes on the mount you may try that as it will decrease the effective spring rate.

I have the hanger all the way forward shackle in lowest hole. I mean, I launched the truck pretty good a few times and still never touched my 4” dongs of bump stops even with the tubes wide open. It’s definitely just too heavy of a spring for my needs. So I’m going to pull the 5th. I guess Jeff did the same on his own truck as well. Said the H70 pack was too light and the HD pack was too much and pulling the 5th made it perfect.

That’s the bung that the factory rack bolts into. It gets cut out for the tundra rack.

I managed to repurpose the other bung and bolt for a tube door mirror which is why I never throw anything away that could be repurposed.

Is the only difference between the H70 and the HD pack the 5th spring? I'm way too lite with the H70.

By the sounds that is not the only difference as the 5th spring removal just puts it in between the two.

This setup is probably ideal for you, the standard H70 pack will be too soft when you load the truck up to go hunting

After re-reading this post it sounds like there are 3 levels of springs here: H70 (lite), H70HD with 5th spring removed (medium) and the H70HD (heavy) pack. I was told somewhere else the entire spring pack is different between the H70 and H70HD. I effed up and I own that when I ordered my H70's and had them clap out after a season. I'm saving for the HD pack if not heavier. Until then my truck is pretty much parked.

Yeah, basically what he told me today is if you’re much over stock weight in the rear the H70 pack is going to be too light and I’ve heard that from others as well. But it’s nice to know there is a middle ground. Pretty much sounds like that’s the happy medium for anybody 150lbs or so over stock weight in the rear.

Why not just get a custom pack made by Alcan or Deaver?

Why do that when these work so damn well? Even though they are a little on the stiff side in the bigger stuff, the ride is still unreal. It’s no different than tuning in your spring rate for coilovers. I just know it can be better.

I have this obsession with learning shock tuning and everything else. I did this build to school myself. I just find it fun trying to chase perfection in all areas
