Being able to shift and not Cancel CC is a think on the 2018 TSS-P Tacos.




IMHO overall, I didn't want auto climate control or any other options. Just the basic Taco. ACC has only worked well in one of three cars that we had it. I end up messing with it as often as manual climate control. Even on rentals, I'm not impressed with it. That said, it is great that there was an option either way, until recently.

 

When I shifted out of 5th to 4th at 50 mph ,.. when I pressed in the clutch the engine rpm was the same and stable as it was before pressing the clutch.
Shifted to 4th released the clutch and the engine quickly found the correct throttle position,... the thing downshifted better than some people I know.

 

I put my order in just before covid started in Feb 2020 and finally got it in mid July later that year, if I remember correctly. The wait sucks but it will be worth it! Stay strong!

This works with the adaptive cruise control, but I used the regular CC for the first time a couple months back and found out it doesn't work when you have it in that mode. When it is in regular CC mode, pushing in the clutch disengages the CC just like it used to.

 

I've had cars with Cruise Control and manual transmissions since the early 1980s and all of them act the same way. Why? Because Cruise Control is speed dependent, regardless of engine RPM.

 

My last car with manual brakes and steering was my 1979 VW Scirocco; to this day the absolute best steering car I've ever had.

 

My Tacoma is the first stick vehicle I’ve had that didn’t cut off the cruise when you push the clutch. In adaptive cruise only, you can shift gears with the cruise active and it just figures it out relatively easily.

 

Here, here! Having a manual is more fun day to day, but it doesn't mean I need to live an ascetic lifestyle otherwise. I have had a couple of loaded manual Mazda3 hatchbacks that I loved and ended up trading in my 3rd gen 4Runner for my 2019 OR because I could get a well-equipped manual. Manufacturers seem to think people only want a stick for a cheap vehicle outside enthusiast models, I felt like I needed to put my money where my mouth was and show them otherwise.

 

Ahhh, okay, now I understand what you're saying. Hmmm, not sure I like that; I routinely disengage CC by tapping the clutch pedal; looks like I'll need to adapt if/when my new Taco gets built.

 

You CC guys are funny...have had my truck for 6 yrs, 100K miles...dunno if the CC works or ever did...

 

While I'm waiting for my Tacoma to get built I'm still rockin' my old 2006 Acura TL 6MT which has all of the goodies I like except automatic wipers. My wife's 2016 Mazda3 s GT 6MT has all of the things I like except power memory seats (which makes changing cars and getting the seat set just right for the clutch pedal a bit challenging). When I switch from driving my son's 4.0 liter 2009 Tacoma 6MT to the Mazda it feels like I'm driving a freakin' slot car.

 

Does the weather stay one temperature year-round in your neck of the woods?

 

Does a place like that even exist?

 

Wow. That's wild.

If I'm on a highway for a decent stretch, CC tends to be On.

 

I use cruise control so much i know it's lower limit on this truck is 23mph

 

I've never figured out the attraction...it's not like I have better things to do with my right foot. And if I have an itch on it, we'll the left foot takes over for a spell

 

I hate that in school zones.

 

Ahhh, now I understand your post; CC=Cruise Control not CC=Climate Control. Duh!

 

That's cool. I just stretch out, usually tucking my feet up behind the pedals. When it is safe to do so.

 

Speaking strictly for myself, I tend to drive a tad fast, fast enough to attract the attention of the local constabulary; by using Cruise Control I have avoided many-MANY speeding tickets.
