new sound system

Got my money back from the tax man already .. thinking of getting an upgrade to my sound system any thoughts on what to do ... what products or manufacturers are good?

My budget is based on steps ... right now im trying to get speakers wire and head unto for about 1100 to 1200 I got a quote from mr. Marv for 740 for what I want but haven't heard back ... and after I do that ill get my sibs and amp put in

 

Kenwood XR5S for the amp... it will run everything and not draw much power plus its tiny.

How many subs you doing? 1 or 2?

The best deal on an amp wiring kit is Stinger.

You still have not stated what you want as far as features... makes a big difference in how much is left for speakers.

 

uhm i dont need gps and i dont need blue tooth pretty much just need it for music and maybe if i go with a double din is to get one with dvd capability

2 subs, most likely 10'' or one 12'' sub all depends on looks for me speakers i already know what im going with when i talked to marv, i just need him to mesage me back to pull the trigger

get rid of your rear speakers... that will save you money and increase your sound quality.

 

In my experience the rear speakers have no positive or negative effect on the front seat passengers... its just about the rear seat passengers and how much sound quality you want them to have. A double cabs tweeter location is so low and obscured you cant hear it... the mids and midbass is so blocked is hardly audible.

 

here's a bit more info on why you shouldn't use rear speakers if you're interested... it's a win/win - saves money on not buying extra speakers and it sounds better....

How about this... I have personal experience with a double cab Tacoma using top quality components in my install. Rear speakers, in no way, have any negative effect, in any way, in a double cab Toyota Tacoma of the current generation.

Actual experience always trumps somethig theoretical you read on the internet.

As for saving money for better front speakers... sure. But once you get to top of the line components, rear speakers, lack of them, or varying quality levels of the rears, does not have ANY effect on the front seat passengers of a double cab Toyota Tacoma. You may have some midbass cancelation or reinforcement at most and that is fixed with phasing the sub or rear spekers correctly.

Additionally, it has no effect on our poor sound stage. It does not harm or help it. Its a bad speaker location for sound stage in a double cab Toyota Tacoma in the stock locations, front and rear. Rear speakers are only going to be heard by the rear seat passengers, or if you fully recline your seat to take a nap. A good sound stage is IMO not attainable in the stock locations. Mine is just OK with some SRS Focus wizardry, causing my appearant stage to rise about 6". SRS Focus will cause some loss of midbass when you do this as its a combination of EQ and selective phase shifting of frequencies it uses to accomplish this feat. I can disconnect my rear speakers and it does not do anything for my sound stage, imagery, or sound quality. My components are already running over the rated RMS so I cant bridge my rears to the front to gain anything there either.

But to say no rear speakers "sounds better" is pattently FALSE, a lie, and misleading. In the OP's vehicle, it does not cause any negatives to sound quality.
