I know, I tossed a coin to see which I should gamble on. My bet with Shane was a bust.

    Maybe start a new poll:.
Who wants kirk to find the correct bearing?
Or should he just cave and spend the long dollar for spindle assemblies?

How long is the dollar & what's your time and frustration worth to you? I've evolved to the point, and honestly can more easily afford now than my younger years, to sometimes just "pay the guy." :notsure:

Fortunately, I've been busy doing a roofing job for the last 2 weeks. The time I've wasted on this horseshit is not a real big issue.

The blow to my ego is the worse part.

These mower spindles are not rocket science!

But the parts seem to be made of unobtainium!

I gonna take the plunge and order the ones Will linked.

These mowers are just hobby. If the BP starts to elevate, is it still a hobby?

I just ordered those. Got to the checkout point, and the pricks wanted $24 to ship $22 in parts.

    I passed.

I can buy 2 spindle assemblies for $50.

I hate the disposable society, but they are forcing me to accept it!

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
It would not be the first time I have run across parts with a common number that are made to a manufactures specifications under bid that fit only that part bought through only the manufacture. Which seems to be what you have going here.

Might be 40 minutes well spent although Grainger isn't my favorite -- I view them as an industrial version of Wal-Mart. I think their big strength is for guys local to a branch, on the phone I always felt they fell down on product knowledge and follow through.

If you call McMaster-Carr on the other hand those people know their products and keep their word.

Although I'm centrally isolated where I live, there are HVAC, Plumbing and Electric supply houses in town plus a good electric motor shop - most anything difficult is obtainable within a 15 - 40 mile trip.

    Color me intrigued.

I forgot about our local Fastinal.

I have one 5 minutes away. I used them almost exclusively for the nuts and bolts I needed for my plasma table build.

I am curious if they have the "magic" to match up these bearings.

I'll stop in on one of my trips to that side of town. I'll hand over an old bearing.

Match it up if you can.

I’m so far behind, but caught up…

I remember all the signs for See Rock City, Ruby Falls, Carlsbad Caverns, etc. might as well throw in Burma Shave and barn sides…

That ceiling tile material is called “wood wool” or the brand name Tectum (Armstrong). It’s a combination of wood fiber, cement and a fire retardant material. It has a good breathable insulation quality which made it a good choice in the 70/80s, but still is common today.

poll: gas tank. Wishing gas tankless next.

Are you on city water or well water?

Tankless with well water is not usually a good combination. The minerals scale up too quick.

I usually thought people with well's had a water softener that reduces a lot of that. Guess I was wrong (yet again...)...
