Good time to upgrade the front coils and shocks to something heavier duty and just eliminate the sway bar all together. Go with some take off 2nd gen springs and 1st gen 5100s or some 880s and 5100s and update the front end. If your not mechanically inclined then just the end links, they are probably easier to do. I hate sway bar end links. They always suck. If all you do is city drive then leave the sway bar and enjoy the factory ride. I personally liked FJ stock coils and 5100s for a little bit stiffer front end but get rid of the sway bar for better flex and a less harsh ride all around.

What would you gain by removing a sway bar other than maybe 5LB's of weight? Lot of money from the factory wonder why they put them on they must have had a reason?

Interesting that the 3rd Gens moved to an end link set up that mounts to the spindle rather than the LCA.

Below: stock driver's side front from a '21 Sport DCSB. Please note, rather than try to wrestle and contort the sway bar without removing the skid plate take five minutes and just drop the damn thing. I spent thirty minutes trying to work around what would have taken me 5 minutes, and ended up taking it off in the end.

This has been discussed for years on the off road forums and channels. Check out this video.

Edit: at 5:35 when you see him demonstrating the sway this is why you want stiff coils when removing a sway bar. I have the OME Heavy Springs (2886) and my body roll is nowhere near what duder in the video experiences. I would not feel comfortable on the road with the setup guy in the vid has.

I've been riding with broken end links for quite a while on my F150, that thing handles like a yacht.

Newbie here: does Toyota offer sway bars with different stiffnesses? Also, does the Tacoma have some form of front strut tower brace? Where might one suggest I go to start reading up on this? Thx.

Yes, I've been there. No success for the Tacoma. Maybe something aftermarket, but without the specs of the bar, at least the diameter, sort of like throwing a dart at a board in the dark.:frusty:

Well I have now ordered 2 diff after market links and they are not even close to what I need. Even both toyota dealerships are stumped as to what link I need. This is an odd situation to say the least.

Post a picture of the ones you got? I have got these from both Napa and Toyota no problem.
there are different styles of the end links across the first generation, if I recall.

you have the same version as my 96 which

Sway bar/stabilizer bar (I think Toyota actually calls it a stabilizer bar) end links
    Napaonline.com part number is :
    NCD 2651650

Yes. 95-00 are different than 01-04.

Otherwise, shouldn't be difficult to find the correct one. The Moog part I linked on page 1 will definitely work.

I must have missed this through out this forum up till now!
I’ve never known one could do that. I just put on the OMe 90004 shocks and 881 Coils, would those be stiff enough to pull my whole bar with a daily driver? I do feel like there is extra stiffness with my new setup. i think I’m gonna try this pro tip

Ya I never had any troubles myself.
If he isn’t doing online purchase, he can at least take that Napa part number to a Napa store and they will be able to get him the right one.

I thought my 01 had different ones from my 96, but I didn’t go out to look, just from memory. Glad I remembered correctly!

Based on picture alone I do believe you are correct an I thank you! Ordered it today so we will see how it goes. Was jus worried about all the negative reviews about the weld but plenty of others were pleased an with the new 5100s an OME 880 coils the suspension will be a little more solid as well.
