Well so I emailed Toyota about the 6/4 builds and got this back so, I’m now more interested in the magical force keeping those trucks at the factory.

I have been in talks with two dealerships since November about getting a truck. It looks like I’m close to getting a truck it’s at the port the sales guy said. My daily driver is a 2014 ram with 352000 miles on it so I know about high miles also. I did have to take a different color but I can live with it.

I guess I got lucky. A Toyota car sales guy post on FB about a new 8 miles 2022 Tacoma TRD for $38,500. Post was on its 11th minute. I messaged him asking if it had any crazy fees. He said No just docs and reg. In CA. Dealers are adding $4,000+ On top of MSRP. I messaged him saying I want to trade in my 17 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with 109,000 miles. I was up $500 which I thought was better than going negative. I went in and learned that the Tacoma was reserved by a man that had put in his $1,000 deposit months ago and for whatever reason decided not to buy it. I also learned that I would be paying taxes on the value of my trade in not the new trucks price. So I saved $1,800 there. I guess it is an AZ thing. Truck was at the dealer for a few hours before I went in to buy it. Reading all these posts makes me feel lil lucky I suppose.

Thanks it’s been a long road that has an end in site for the exact truck I wanted. An ELG Pro in a MT with lots of specifics at MSRP.

I think you made the right call, especially if you already have a vehicle you can drive in the meantime. My last Tacoma got totaled so I can't be too picky I only have a month of rental car. The only thing I would be concerned about was if you had a trade. There's a good chance used car prices going to keep coming down so you might not get as much a few months from now

How long do they typically sit in port?
    Any idea?

@Rod03 is the date and time you gave when it was supposed to be at the dealer or when it was picked up? Still hasn’t got to the dealer.

Every situation is different, there is really not a timeline. Sometimes the ETA's are close, when there is one. I just checked your VIN and it doesnt have one.
