To easy - just press and hold the cruise on button until it switches over to the traditional mode. It’ll work exactly how you are used to. I use that the majority of the time.

I had a 1980 Scirocco S, it had power brakes but manual steering, was a pretty nice driving car.

The Mazda had an infinitely easier/smoother clutch. The Taco is still fun but even after 3 years it frequently makes me feel like a novice.

This comment is the first I realized that you can switch to regular cruise control! I I had figured it wasn't an option. I've been really happy with the adaptive function (obv didn't even care enough to look up how to do it until now) but there was an occasion or two that I would've liked to use the standard. Thanks!

I worked with a guy who had a 2nd gen Scirocco, with a supercharger on it! Fun little car.

Unless you're in an international in neutral. I'm assuming a lot of big dump trucks and haulers work like this, but in N the cruise can be set based on rpm. Real useful for running heaters or onboard air (charging brakes in the cold) or pto etc

As far as climate control goes.... The Frontier auto setup is actually stupid good at what it does.

That's the reason I got a manual Pro, I gotta have a sunroof, ACC and auto high beams.
I accidentally discovered that you can shift with ACC, really like that feature.

I fully agree to this. I love driving a manual transmission, but that doesn't mean I'm not welcome to new technology. I do appreciate the tech my 2022 OR comes with over my 2006 S2000 on my daily commute.

My truck only has LED lights as its option, but I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to having some more tech.

It's a bit funny how Toyota decides to offer the manual on only their TRD trims for the Tacoma.

I lament the loss of 2wd MT. Seems like the SX would be a perfect MT.

Me too. I'm surprised Toyota didn't offer the MT with their lower trim levels.

2017 was the last year you could get the SR 4 Cylinder 5 speed MT, guess they figure if you want a MT then you will spend more to get a higher trim level.

Can someone help me understand why the I4 requires the 5MT and isn't compatible with the 6MT? Is it how the engine is mounted? Are the I4 Auto and v6 auto different transmissions?

No the automatics are the same for the 3rd gen I4 and V6 4WD. AC60F.

So, like, what's the deal with the MT needing a 5 for the I4 but 6 for the v6? Is there a technical reason/limitation? Seems like the 4 would benefit from the extra gear as much as any 6, yeah?
A 6MT I4 3rd gen 2wd Tacoma under 30k, AC or DC, this would be a decently fun truck for anyone who likes value and doesn't really want to drop 40k.
