 That is seriously impressive! I hope you folks at least get paid close to what your skill is worth. There's just something different when it's done by hand instead of robot.

Yeah, I think we do. Could be better, but nobody that has a high skill level is complaining.

I'm not working as many hours as Brian, and I do 10hrs/day Mon thru fri, 8 hrs on Sat and Sun. He does 12's and 10's, respectively. Every other Sunday off for company mandated fatigue day. OT is not mandatory, so I take time off to do things with the Mrs ... but yeah we're not hurting for $$$ here right now.

You should see the vehicles in our parking lot, they've been doing it for decades. Me, just a few mos.

Edit: what I would like is to make this OT money for 40 hr weeks. Then we'd be talking. Still though, our 40 hrs/wk is a respectable wage.

Can someone tell me the thread pitch?

I have to settle for a shit knob from shiftsolutionsco and want to make sure what I’m getting will fit.

@7r41lbr34k3r I should have kept my knob when I sold my old truck :(

That feeling when it’s 115° in your truck when you start it up and you start to wonder if today is the day that your custom shift knob gets branded into your palm like you’re Joe Pesci in Home Alone. Is it weird if a tiny part of me thinks that would be awesome?

Stainless isn’t bad. I’ll see about aluminum tomorrow at 10am.

This is a demonstration as to how quickly it heats and cools. That aluminum will cool much more quickly than the stainless. The stainless takes longer to heat as it is more dense and will hold the heat longer. I’ve had both the stainless and aluminum knobs. The stainless was hotter, so far. But I don’t live in the heat wave so.

Well, I seem to have allergies here ... so that sucks. I never really had to deal with that in my life.

I've been on vaca since the 8th, and that first week we drove back to PA to get the camper, kayaks, etc ... basically everything the in-laws held for us while moving. Jenni got hit with allergies in PA, 7 mos away from the area proved to not be great for her. Me, however, I felt great ... ha. The familiar smells and sights were nice, but being so far from our new home was somewhat stressful. Houston certainly feels like home now, that is for sure.

We love it here so far. I generally avoid cities like the plague, but out in the burbs of Clear Lake City you don't have many chef-driven restaurants, so we find ourselves driving to Westheimer Rd., Post Oak, Bellaire ... pretty frequently. This is where all the great culinary things happen. I am still the same weight, surprisingly ... must be the heat melting it away if only allowing me to regularly be outdoors pretty much year round.

This week focusing on fitting all windows with plywood/plylox in anticipation of the next hurricane. Don't want this Texas newb to be caught unprepared for what Mother nature brings this way.

How have you been up in Canadaland?

    Allergies suck!

Developed tree allergies after living here a while and my very minor grass allergy went into overdrive with the tree stuff.

It's great to hear that it is going well though. Enjoy!

Thanks dude! You still turning wrenches?

Side note, here was the convoy coming home ... got about 17.5mpg up and 11 back. $1k total, pretty much on the nose for fuel. The 38G tank is nice ... able to get close to 600mi (unloaded) before the low fuel light comes on, at which I still have about 6G in reserve. She's a pig, but luckily only filling up once a month otherwise.

Oh yeah. Getting ready for racing the next couple weekends. The drive from the north end to south of Seattle sucks after work, but worth it to be messing around in the shop.

Nice! That is not bad for the round trip. It was like a pretty nice cruise? 600mi range is a beautiful thing. Our old car used to get near there on road trips.

    Sweet, I am in envy!

70-75 on the way up ... closer to 70 on the way back. The manual states S4 mode for towing, so 70mph is about 3k rpm. Right there is still a comfortable noise level. Super comfy indeed with the extra room and amenities. You can imagine 160 ponies to 380 is a completely different towing experience. Ha, gotta love power and torques. But I mean, there's no escaping the dog farts with this setup.
