Any good spots to disperse camp near Icehouse or Union Valley Reservoir? Looks like all the developed campsites near there are fully booked for next several weekends

Looks like fire restrictions for both the Sierra and Tahoe National Forests are under fire restrictions. The Sierra NF link is for a number of orders, some of which are related to the fires in addition to the restrictions.

Heading up there Thursday morning. Anything to report regarding trail conditions? Can you tell me where that old shelter is, that looks cool.

Just boonie crash deep off a fire road. Don't make a fire and you will never be seen. You also can tent camp at uncle toms cabin. Just pay them their $10?. I stayed there a few months ago and it was great.

Trail conditions are good, REALLY DRY. Hardbrake Hill was the least traction I have ever seen it. Really dusty.

The little shelter is right near this green arrow, just off 5N01M.

    Map.jpg

5N01M actually goes back further than the map, here, shows. (Blue Line). We found the little Hoodoos (Rock snowmen) a couple hundred feet beyond the end of the road.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I'm buried in video editing. I haven't even finished our Slick Rock/Deer Valley trip from 2 weekends ago, but I started our Poker Run trip, because I want to strike while the iron is hot with people talking about the Poker Run.

Here's Day 1 (travel day) and Day 2 (the day we explored and found that shelter and the Hoodoos)... I'm almost done with the videos of the actual Poker Run, I should be able to post that this evening.

Once I get the Poker Run finished... I get to go back to editing Slick Rock/Deer Valley :boom:

Great meeting you and the missus Matt!
FYI If your taco gets hungry, eats a few pine trees along the trail and dribbles some sap on your hood, rubbing alcohol for the win!

Thanks! Good to know, I checked IOverland and it showed a couple locations and I downloaded the region MVUM so I can find other options. Even got my fire permit o so no need to hide from rangers.

Eldorado is also under same restriction.

Just got one; Permit is easy to get, go to website, watch a 2-1/2 minute video and take a 8 question test to verify you watched the video, provide your name and address then hit the print button. Permit is good through end of December so don’t lose it

Any of you guys have info of the Tahoe NF fire restrictions for this year? I despise the NF websites and can never easily find that kind of info. Curious what they've got goin on since I'll be back in that area here shortly.

I know this is the norcal thread but there's some overlap ig
