Sheesh pretty harsh to shit all over anyone that wants to distinguish and personalize their ride with a few lights from all the other 25 gazillion Tacomas out there on the road. Would you care to post a list of acceptable mods that people can add without being a tool?

I don't think anyone thinks that your lights has any bearing on them.

Same as this thread calling them silly shouldn't have any bearing on you.

They don't really look good and serve no meaningful purpose but you can absolutely install them if you want. Same as people will absolutely make fun of them if they want.

In the end it's your truck and someone else's opinion. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure someone here has made fun of my truck for whatever reason. No big deal.

I drive through Fargo often. If I saw you I'd give you a wave and we could laugh at each other's trucks over a beer at Drekker.

I bet I could find someone who calls each of those stupid. Actually I could do that easily since there's one professor on this site that will call anyone a tool who thinks that "bolting something on makes it a 'mod'".


The roundabout point I was getting to, dear viewers, is that if it exists, someone is going to shit on it. Being overly opinionated always has been and always will be the very core of human nature. Getting mad about that is futile.

I'll bite b/c most would probably say I way overdid it with the lights. I live out in the desert where it gets 120+ in the summer. I am into long range shooting/reloading where I am always tinkering with different loads. Since I have to be at work early in the morning, the only feasible time for me to get shooting in is at night, when its cooler. I also go with a buddy and hunt coyotes/jackrabbits at night (perfectly legal). Some of the spots I go are pretty far out on BLM land, so I like to drive as fast as I can to limit the time I'm out there.

The stock halogens absolutely weren't cutting it in terms of visibility bombing through the desert at night. I first went with a BD 30" light bar in my ADD bumper, which was great, but really only lit up the foreground right in front of me. I wanted more distance so I then added the Rigid grill/light which is higher up and gives me great distance light. I don't like the roof mounted lights because of the glare (buddy has one). With my setup now I can comfortably get up to 40+mph on the trail and see where the hell I'm going, especially on the tight turns.

With all the rocks out there which crushed my stock skid and then split a TRD aluminum one, I eventually put in a full steel armor package, and a stage 4 FOX/Accutune setup to make it all driveable. So pretty much everything I did was based on my needs.

 

So if it's about width......should I have Raptor lights on my sausage? Asking for my wife.

 

RGB puddle lights on the base and a badge on the unit. Its been a crowd pleaser.
