I already have a dropped single cab chevy, two dropped trucks might be too much lol (I never installed the tacoma kit, I bought it used)

Hahhaa, I hear that.. a dropped single cab shortbed Chevy is a dream truck of mine for certain!

Back to the subject so we dont get banned from the site with this bow-tie talk..

I snapped a few pics of this one while I was at the Toyotafest in Long Beach this year, he took home a well deserved trophy for this fine machine!

That is the best first gen tacoma I’ve ever seen . It reminds me of my old 1st gen. Black extended cab just like that with an sos drop kit and 18s. I always wanted to put a 2jz in it but I got rid of it for my 2nd gen. I miss my 1st gen but the 2nd gen is a way comfier daily.

I thought this truck would be appreciated here!!

Soon as I saw this one I knew I wouldnt not be taking home any trophies, and I was having a great conversation with him and another fine TW citizen when he was called to pickup his award.

Back to some more BS about lowering the Tacoma's for those that NEED DROP...

I think I found him as this ebay seller mr_nam, since he added photos of his truck to his items. He has some interesting products to get some front drop that should maybe find a place here too and onto a couple of our 1st gen trucks here perhaps?!

1.8" drop spindle spacers which he states works with 17" wheels:

    upload_2022-7-21_9-46-58.jpg

or you can go for the 2.3" drop spindle spacer for 18"s:

    upload_2022-7-21_9-52-24.jpg

Dont just get one or the other though and call it done, he also has the upper ball joint assembly which is needed to get the alignment specs back in order.

    upload_2022-7-21_9-58-49.jpg

These products combined are basically doing the same job as some fabricated drop spindles for maybe half of what I paid for mine. I would probably suggest these (or drop spindles) to anyone looking for some serious drop without introducing any bump steer or changing the factory alignment settings. This also will not change the ride if you retain stock springs. Or add drop springs for extra lowering of course!

Also those who did the DJM/ball joint flip and wonder why your truck wanders a bit, this will likely correct those issues you may have with bump steer too.

While these are better than a ball joint flip they do not do the same thing as a proper drop spindle. In order to keep proper geometry the upper and lower balljoint mounts need to moved the same amount. The combination of the spacer and those upper balljoints only correct camber but the geometry is still changed since the upper balljoint mount isn't moved down along with the lower.

Thanks for clarifying this detail, wonder how it may ride compared to the bj flip and the drop spindle.

However I do have the drop spindles, the alignment and handling seems to be on par with factory as far as I can tell, but of course much more planted and stable wit the lower center of gravity. I dont see how you can go wrong with this as your first stage of drop to get 2 full inches (no variance as in with coils) and the factory ride is maintained.

Yeah im on the drop spindles from Aaron and the qa1 coilovers. It's been by far the the best riding and handling setup that I've gone through. Keeping that geometry correct is essential to keeping the handling as close as possible to stock.

Yup! I think I had the first set he sold to anyone besides himself. They're definitely great quality and worth the money.

Yeahp, these are the ones as I noted they did say Gram Lights around the rim.

Maybe he has an older version of this since the outer lip does look to be shaped a bit differently. These are premium quality racing wheels made in Japan so the new stuff is probably stronger and lighter.. Here is another shot of the wheel on the truck above:
