So I'm interested in installing a snorkel on my 2021 Toyota Tacoma everybody has seen the pictures of Tacoma's going through rivers and the water going up to the door and then they open the door and all the water comes out of the cabin How do you dry the cabin and are you gonna mess up your Electrical.

    Pull the seat, and carpet.
Open doors and windows then wait.
It’s hard on electrical components. Just because it works now, doesn’t mean it will in a few weeks or year.

My advice is, buy a boat to cross deep water. Or find a bridge?

    good question OP.
i was wondering the same thing after watching Youtube videos of deep crossings.
seems like it would be lots of work to prevent damage from setting in.
would suspect potential for stinky mouldy carpet unless you took it all apart.
water seepage corroding electronics and wiring?
my first ford p/u was designed to be hosed out.

Windows up, A/C on recirculating, create cabin pressure before. Bingo bongo.

…and remove, open and dry out/clean the rear differential actuator else it will corrode over time after water gets inside it.

Fan on full but not on recirculating would build up cabin pressure- fresh air coming in from outside, not just recirculating inside air…

First pic: Flooding my 3rd gen cause my ex closed the door on a bag strap, causing the seal to be folded.

Second pic: My transfer case after I flooded it and had to replace it with a junkyard one.

I’ve learned to just avoid them at all costs, but now that I have a much bigger truck, it probably wont even come up to my doors. Extend you diff breathers, silicone the snorkel joints, plug the factory drain hole in the intake…Then theres all the electrical stuff to seal too. Just a headache.

Also drive into them at a good pace and maintain the wake in front of you the whole time. That’ll keep the water level lower at the front end, and the wave in front of the truck.

I would drive through deep water to save my ass and there was no other option. But I would not do it just to see what might or might not happen. Our trucks are quite capable off road vehicles, but they are not water tight submersibles.

    I drive a Miata.
    Here's my method:

I pull to the side of the trail, stop, and put the truck in park. Then I hop my fat ass out of the truck and wade the entire crossing, up the driver's wheel-track, then return on the passenger's track. If at any point the base of my hammy gets wet (8") I have a hard think about whether it's worth continuing the trail. (Vast majority of the time its a no thank you, I'll turn around here.) If the water starts approaching the base of my knee (18") its a hard no-go. If the current threatens to push me off balance, its also a hard no-go. If the water looks too nasty for me to wade, also a no-go, I don't want that shit gumming up the moving parts of my truck.

I guess I'm weird, I pre-walk all of my technical sections because I hate entering blind and without a plan of attack. And I stopped fucking with water and mud a while ago. Those things shorten the life of your truck worse than cigarrettes.

i would evaporate what you can and then run the a/c on recirculate with the heat on high until everything is dry (make sure windows are up)
