Did I get a Lemon?

I wonder if you have to go to the dealership you bought from in order for the lemon law to be in force. For just warranty repair sure you can go to any of them.

 

I think the noise is more in the front of the engine, maybe the harmonic balancer, pulley or something hitting as is not getting louder I assume when revving it up. I think it can be fixed fairly quick if they can get it in the shop.

The advisors/service writers at dealerships in my area are all sales people. They are constantly ripping off customers with lack of vehicle knowledge. They take advantage of people all the time. That is why if it is not free or warranty work, I recommended finding a good local independent mechanic shop that can be trusted and building a good relationship with them or learn to fix/maintain the vehicle. You will never build a good relationship with dealerships, the staff is always changing and they do not care about the customer.

 

If tips bother you that much, stay out of topless bars, restaurants, and off shore fishing boats then. I can assure you when you cop an asshole attitude, they aint moving you to the front of the line come hell or high water, they aint doin you a solid, no matter what. It's not the amount of the tip that drives what the other post brought up, it's the recognition that they are people doing a job and you appreciate the effort they make.

I guess if that bothers you, you could lay down in the floor and kick and scream in front of the service writer.

The world has changed in the last three years, you said as much when you mentioned staffing issues. Lord have mercy, you are an adult so try to remember a little respect can go a long way. You may be special to your parents, but to a beat down tech or service writer you're not special.

Yes. I am thinking the same. That or the intake manifold. I just cannot believe it is the engine with the rep these engines get for reliability.

 

Intake is too high. That noise sounds and looks like the center front of the engine based on how I saw and heard the noise it in the video.

 

Lol. You sound angry. I know dealership employees do not give a shit about me or anyone else. Go do some googling, they are some of the top scammers. What they care about is the amount of money they make. They are a dying and dated way of of doing business. The world is changing and the time of the dealership is coming to an end.

Staffing issues are not my problem, it's their problem, and if they are having that problem, then, they may need to pay more, or do something to attract more employees. They had no problem selling the vehicle.

 

The customer can go to any Toyota dealership that works with Toyota, even third party places that work with Toyota. The lemon law really has to do with Toyota more than the dealership.

 

Dealer has 3 times to fix a serious safety defect usually to qualify for lemon law. Can vary by state. Not as easy as everyone thinks. You just don't go in with a problem and call it a lemon and say give me another. Good luck. People think that if a dealer didn't fix a dome light problem 3x it's a lemon law.

 

Not angry, tired of the incessant whining. If you know what is wrong with your truck, by all means tell them. If you dont, then let them tell you. But dont expect them to push some single mother of 2 kids off to handle your problem.

Be sure to follow up on this thread when the issue is determined. I for one would like to know. In the meantime, I would like to see another video if you are up for that, but with some changes. First, make sure the A/C is off and hood open. Start under the hood passenger side and near the firewall and work you way around. Just be careful not to drop the phone and be sure to avoid the belt/fan. And if possible, go under the very front of the engine since the sound could be coming from the bottom area. Make sure the emergency brake is on, vehicle in Park.

 

You really have to read the state specific law, because they all vary. For example MA you can lemon law a defect that impacts market value (however one proves that). But yeah, small issues are not covered.

An engine issue (if it is actually an issue) might qualify under either definition, or both.

 

My state has 3 tries and 15 business days and they actually have to show good effort in there attempt to fix it. A dome light actually counts if you can prove it is safety issue or diminishes the value of the vehicle. So if the dome light has electric issues and keeps going out, then yes it could be possible lemon issue in some states.

Most manufactures will try to avoid getting a lemon (Toyota is actually at near the top of this list), it hurt their stats on a state level, in some states. So, they will buy the car back or just exchange it for a similar vehicle. A lemon title is hard sell to

Just remember, when a dealer is showing they DGAF, Yelp! and google reviews are your friends. They usually don't like getting notifications of bad reviews.

Electrical issues are safety in some cases. Electrical issues can lead to fires. And not being able to see when enter a car at night could be considered a safety issue
