Anything 20 years old is a huge gabmle no matter the mileage...Kinda where I am at

Sell the taco for 5800 buy a 97 accord coupe 5 speed with 258k ad use the rest to pay off debt...

Or just keep my taco and drive it considering I know it inside and out and I trust it. The honda could become a money pit instantly....so could the yota though.

Still better than a huge car payment.

it all depends on how well it was or was not taken care of. frankly I would be worried. I got rid of my 2005 outback at 310,000 miles because I was unsure how long it would last even though I had done all the maintaince and oil changes like clock work.....
what I did when needing a second job and tight financial situation: 2008 I bought a no frills cheaper car with low mile and good on gas... and recently I bought my tacoma

OP, just be sure and stay away from VW's. When I was in your similar situation I sold my reliable, 9 years owned Nissan Hardbody 4x4 P/U and bought a VW Jetta TDi for the mileage reasons. The most reliable part on that VW was the Check Engine light.....

Former 1995 jetta owner. Just stay away from the vr6 or tdi. The 2.0 was pretty good. (nowhere near reliable like a civic or corolla though)

Don't let Tacoma "Fever" get the best of you. Like others have stated, buy a good used Civic, Corolla or a Camry and wait until your financial situation is better. You can start a small Tacoma savings account to buy a truck sometime down the road in a year or two. You'll save money with a car that gets twice the milage a Tacoma will get, and insurance will be cheaper. Just my 2 cents worth.
