Yes, I heard the digits got switched, but if it used to be 52, 73 doesn't make any more sense than 37. Also, you would think Toyota would be correcting the factory output asap.

Toyota uses newton meters not foot pounds thats my guess as to why it hasn't been corrected. 52 is not the right spec for a third gens stock springs, what ever after market or spec for a previous gen truck does not apply. torque them to 73 if they are not already.

52 foot pounds is about equal to 70.5 newton meters. 37 ft/lbs is about 50 nm. 73 ft/lbs is about is about 99 nm. Where does the 73 ft/lbs recommendation originate?

TBQH, when I installed my Dakars I might been following the torque specs in the OME instructions. The kit came with new u-bolts.

The factory doesn't use foot pounds, they use the newton meter spec. I don't have access to the service manual at the moment but when I did my springs I converted the newton meters to foot pounds and got 73ish.

No clue but for the size of the bolt if its grade 5 it should be about 65 and grade 8 is like 90. Mine are larger so they get one more ugga dugga.

Just checked my Chilton 05-09 repair manual... it says 37 Ft lbs/50Nm. Another misprint?
Maybe the oem bolts are 7/16 grade 5?

So it just gets weirder. 05-09 is older than the 52 ft/lbs spec. from the posted early 3rd gen giant manual/pages :tumbleweed:

the early second gens came with a thinner 3 leaf pack that was TSB out. That could be an accurate figure for those early packs.

Get some thick grease that won’t thin out under heat and grease your slip joint. That’s the only thing that actually cured the “axel wrap” I was feeling.

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer all provide the same vibration, and I think the 3rd gen 2WD trucks have no grease fittings.

Turns out the techinfo site gives 52 ft/lbs, but you will get different numbers from different dealerships. Good luck if you're trying to find the u-bolt strength, diameter, and pitch. Oddly, the torque spec in the T-SB-0124-20 bulletin says 44 ft/lbs. In any case, the vibration remains, but oddly seems to be reduced by letting go of the steering wheel.
