At 10K miles.
1st change.
New oil, right level, no leaks, skid plate on correctly, nice people, very professional and timely.
No upsells.

I hear the cynics gathering for the attack as we speak.

 

Toyota sells around 1000 Tacomas a day. I am sure I am in the 99.7th percentile for no drama or problem.
Fun times.

 

Too early for up selling. wait to you get around 36000 miles or when the free care maintenance is gone. They already got you in the system

 

Lighting the torches, heating the tar, plucking chickens for feathers, hitching up the horses so the wagon can be rode out of town. I hear the angry murmurs and feel the undercurrent of resentment and jealousy ..

 

You would be surprised. I went in and nicely told them I wanted the oil changed and the tires rotated. I told them nicely to not top off any fluids or check the air filter or cabin filter.
Usually they get the message.

 

You fucking tease! I read the title and instantly thought "Oh, this is going to be train wreck FOR SURE." But nooooooo, you let us down. We should revoke all of your Friday postings for the next 3 weeks!

 

Whelp it's a gonner now. Way too many miles and it's unlikely the dealership used one of the unicorn piss oils needed to keep the engine from self destructing and opening a black hole to the demon realm.

 

It's an oil thread. It's going to be a trainwreck regardless of what's posted.

 

As far as the upsells, if under toyotacare you won't have any. Its when you go back under your nickel, the dealer tries to cash in as much as possible.

 

That's what they want you to think. The next thing you know there's money missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up. I've seen it a hundred times.

 

Dealership I bought mine at offered free oil changes as long as I owned the vehicle and while I got a few upsell attempts, they were never pushy about my gentle declining.

The fun part was when I turned down their offer to address a recall in the steering spiral cable on the 2nd gens. Declined maybe 3 times, agreed on the 4th. Truck was returned with the steering wheel put back on about 30 degrees from TDC. Fun times.
