conversion 2wd to 4wd

I currently want to convert my 2002 prerunner trd to 4wd, estimate to how much, or parts needed?

Being that you have no idea on costs/parts of this type of project, you will obviously not be doing it yourself. So, your costs just went way up due to shop labor. It's going to be thousands. If that number scares you, then this isn't the project for you. If you're made of money, go to shops and get quotes and get moving on it.

FYI, it's easier AND cheaper just to trade in your 2WD and get a 4WD.

Way to just discourage a guy from getting into a fun project. You expect him to know the cost from birth? This is how you learn the cost, by going to fourms and asking people who have done it. Dont be a dick.

Costs will be a bit tho. You will need to find all the parts from either a junker 4x4 thats you can salvage good parts off of. Tools can be pretty much rented for free from autozone and what not. Look online and youtube for conversion videos. This kinda thing will be expensive tho, def in the thousands if i had to guess. But if some guy at a mechanics shop can do it so can you. Its not hard to do you just gotta commit and understand what you are workin with. Just follow videos online and do some research to know what you are doing and understand the parts you are working with. This kinda stuff is alot of fun but yeah its expensive. So if you know you are in for that kinda project do it yourself. But if you want to save yourself the hours in the garage then have someone else do it. Tho i have no idea what kinda shops would do it unless you had donor parts already available.

and yeah it would be way easier to just trade it for a 4x4 but idk if it would be cheaper. Find the cost of a junker 4x4 or look on ebay and craigslist for parts. Or a junkyard. A trade would for sure have less possible compatibility issues down the line. But like i said. If you wanna get into the hobby and get some real good experience then save up some coin and go for it.
